American car MOT'ing

My American LHD '74 911 2.7 still has it's American side lights and indicators.

Extra lights can easily by covered up with tape --- leaving them working --- but the front side lights are yellow, not white.

Are clear lenses available ?

Would this suffice ?

I have a little time and I'd really rather leave the car as-is ....

Thanks, Chris

MOT time

Booked the car in at GtOne for MOT and service (the latter for potential sale purposes )

What with the new MOT regulations, are there any little things I should double check on to avoid any porsche tax. Last year I paid £25 for some new wiper blades cos MOT man deemed the window was not clearing.

I had an advisory last year with slight play in the front wheel bearings. I've adjusted these since but b*ggered if I could find any play - anyone had this one before?

Cheers
N

London Specialist ?

Afternoon all!

I've recently moved to London with work and brought the 911 with me. It's been performing great since its trip to Dom's for a suspension and gearbox overhaul... plus the new alternator required after leaving me stranded by the side of the road!

However, its MOT is due shortly and it would probably benefit from a service as well. Anyone have any recommendations for a specialist in S or S/W London?

Thanks
Dave

I have been toying with the idea of removing the whale tail on my Carrera SSE, what do the panel think?

Does anyone have a picture of one without rear spoiler?

Obviously there are some minimal aerodynamic effects at 70mph but the main point is, wouldn't the car look better- after all there is no intercooler to house.

Impact bumper put to the test :(

You will not beleive what happened to me this morning.

Me and my 993 owning mate were on our way to the open day at Hilton and Moss in Stansted (classic dealer and resto place). Nice drive out there in the sunshine enjoying the day. I was leading and Jon was following. I came up to a T junction to turn left, stopped and Jon didn't

His 993 came off a lot worse and probably needs a whole new PU and other bits. My IB did its job but I now have a wonky bumper, knackered overriders, smashed reflector strip and a dented panel behind the reflector.

Needless to say we never made it to Hilton and Moss as Jon was feeling a bit pissed.

Spoken to RH Insurance who were great, and seeing as it was Jon fault we will be claiming against his policy. All I need to do now is take it to a body shop to get a quote.

Anybody suggest somewhere good in the Chelmsford area? There is not a lot of body damage but it would be good to use someone who knows what they are doing as I am sure the bumper dampers will need to come off to be replaced as a minimum.

All suggestions appreciated.

911 SC 188 / 204

HI,

I am off tomorrow to look at a 1980 SC which I am really liking the look of come engine care and recent full body respray from bare metal. I have though just spotted as I poor over 'whatever I can lay my hands on to read on Google' about the 911 sc's, that the one I am looking at has a chassis number that commences 91A, which denotes it's a 188 bhp variety.

The question is, am I better to look for the 204 bhp engine for occasional better speed options, or does the 188 bhp still produce good end results?

I guess this topic is to see what people's views are on the 188 and 204 variants, I have yet to actually drive one, so am completely blind to their outright performance, with my meagre budget of £14K in place, a G50 seems to be out of reach and finding a 204 bhp coupe version seems quite tricky as well?

Any help, guidance, comments here would all be welcome.

Thanks again for your help

Angus
