  1. Not necessarily Kim My 3.2 was an incredibly engaging drive - hard work, but incredibly engaging. The lack of power steering and ABS rewarded my driving. It wasn't as 'soft' as my 993 but it wasn't hard... Jumping from a 996 or 997 to a 3.2 would be a completely different story, as they are a world apart. I really think you should try a 3.2 before you dismiss it. As you say you are not going to track it, so stock suspension with a really great hot rod look should be totally fine - might be the best thing you ever did...
  2. safe drive boys...
  3. My Nan said "nobody likes a smart arrrr5e"
  4. Just read this post and had to re-read it - have to say I'm with Tank on this one. I've been going to the ring for 6 years and have probably done +150 laps - so consider myself knowledgable and able to share my views with a degree of authority. I have spent more time waiting to get on track due to closures than I care to remember. Everybody thinks that they will come away unscathed but the reality is that you do have a chance of being involved in something that could break your bank or change your life. For this reason I treat the Ring with the greatest of respect. I'm fortunate enough to have some very close friends that share the same views as me. We limit ourselves to 4 cars to keep our group close and intimate. I would love to share this experiance with some of you on here, but the reality is that this would be done completely by chance, because of our 4 car rule (this only allows for one guest). We've only just got back from the Destination Nurburgring trackday which is so much more relaxed than a TF. Some very nice cars, very well driven and unfortunately witness to some nasty accidents. We got talking to a guy in the Pistenklause who knew one of the guys involved in the accident (luckily driver and passenger were unhurt) and told us how his mate was a good driver and was drifting around Spiegel Curve! We met another guy who stacked his Evo overtaking at Brunchen and another who lost it at the Mini Karousel.... I'm not trying to put anyone off - I love the place. I'm trying to make you think of the risks involved. I would hate for anyone I know to have an accident, especially at the Ring due to all the costs associated with not having insurance. Tank is doing the right thing here - warning all of the risks and removing all responsibility and association from IB and himself. If it was me, I would take it off board and limit to friends you know and trust. With that in mind, don't give him a hard time - he's trying to keep you in check. So in Summary, when you go. Take care, be aware and drive well within your limitations. If you are trying to get a quick lap, you just might be the one who regrets it.....
  5. Great videos Lewis - thanks for posting. In terms of best times - they look something like this.... Jevvy - 55.11 Glenn - 57.34 Jake - 58.13 Lewis - 59.15 Rainer - 59.40 Chris - 101.12 Kev - 104.38 Will - 108.96
  6. Really happy with how the day turned out - just a shame that we had a couple of last minute drop outs. Was great to meet up with some old friends, talk b*ll*cks and drive our cars. Turned out to be the most chilled out event I've ever been to, no pressure to be on track and put a quick time in. As for the cars, I think we all did really well and the grin factor was more satisfying than driving the quickest. Some spectacular and flamboyant driving from Jev, Lewis and Chris - well done! As others have said, Jevvy's car (and his driving) were top notch and is defiantly a GT3 eater. Also really pleased that Rainer managed to get some decent runs in after a shakey start. Look out for Northy's videos, I think that mount ended up on every panel, so should make some really interesting angles. Lastly, special thanks to Gordon who generously helped out with keeping things ticking over. Roll on next year.....
  7. One place available again - throw a sickie and drive your Porsche! Let me know if you can make it.
  8. All places now full again.... Should be a good 'un
  9. One place left Thanks for fixing the title RB - it was an early start!
  10. Due to a couple of last minute cancellations, I have two spaces for a sprint day at Curborough next Thursday. The event is limited to 10 cars and will be run in sessions to maximise driving time. Cost is only £55 for the full day. Pm me if you are interested.
  11. Cooling down lap or pre camber adjustment.... Nobody is faster than our Stig
  12. Just revealed..... OJ is the real Stig
  13. What a day.... Woke up to the sound of rain and felt for all the people driving. However once over the Pennines it soon cleared up - game on!. Met up withy Jevvy and Babs, which is always very entertaining..... Oh, Bruno was there too, but didn't get introduced (cruel parents) I love Jevvy's car - stripped out and dirty, loads of grip and with the prospect of sticking 245's on the back, more to come. Loads of power and good brakes which got tested later and later as the day went on. Put loads of the RS boys to shame - Well done David! - just one question, did you lift? The stig? Nicks Car - complete with woolly hat Very quick car on slicks. Just running the new engine in apparently This was also very tasty Not sure if this was Bab's driving
  14. I might pop along for some fun and photography... PM me your mobile and I'll firm up some details with you
  15. The two best UK circuits [OP + DP] are in the North - assuming that anything above watford is indeed north.... I knew that you guys would see the light - want to drink some clean water and breathe some fresh air, hey, before you know it you will be driving some water cooled cars! Seriously - Oulton International is probably the best UK circuit and if you are in to trackdays I can't think of many places to go and play. If you guys dare to come up North - I'll be there!
