Looking absolutely superb. That colour is going to stand out from the usual sea of silver/black Mercs and BMW's cruising down Orchard Parade!
-
No need to do that. You can do a 964 grind on your existing turbo cams: DR Cams
-
I was driving by my local OPC yesterday and spotted what I thought was a replica 935 through the window. Turns out it is an actual 935 raced at Le Mans in 1978 on loan from the Porsche Museum. I took some quick shots on my camera phone, forgetting everything JG had advised with regards to taking good photos in his article on the Porsche Museum. Sorry John! Anyone know much about the history of this car?
-
Welcome aboard Bill. Surely your car deserves a thread and intro of its own? If you've got pictures of the restoration..we love pictures!
-
WTF? Has he explained what his plan was? What he was thinking? Thought you were in Singapore not bloody Jakarta! Surely an elbo fitting could have been made under the turbo to shift the tank clear to the left? Spent 5 years as an engineer in S.E. Asia yet the place constantly surprises me.
-
Definitely go! The point of a dyno session should be to make sure your car is running properly (especially making sure it's holding its AFR's up until the red line). Instead of chasing the last 10hp you probably wouldn't notice, think of it as avoiding blowing a whole in the top of a piston (something you probably would notice).
-
Totally agree. Nothing puts me off a car more than a colour change. Except maybe rust. Or thinking that it's been resprayed because of rust.
-
With the amount of time and effort you're going to to try to return the car to it's oringal look, I think you'd be mad to paint it anything else. Besides it's an excellent colour for a 911 of that vintage!
-
As David has already stated, there's nothing to "remap" on a CIS turbo. Simple tuning and adjust to ensure perfect timing and AFR's will be about it. If you're after making more power with CIS your best bet is to add headers, a 1.0 bar spring and change out the intercooler and/or swap the turbo. If the fueling starts to go awry after this you may wish to consider an adjustable WUR. With bolt on mods you should be able to liberate an extra 100bhp quite easily.

My 77 has a body colour engine bay. Doesn't appear to have been repainted.

That 964 conversion is one of the best I've seen. Including the oil leak is a level of detail I haven't seen before!
-
Hmm, interesting. So is that why the kit comes with "cores" plural? Does it have one each side of the bridge that extends into the cavity?
-
If your bridge is anything like mine I don;t see how the tail gives you any more room than a flat lid. Here's mine: I thought the IC would have to slot into the recess in the middle of the tail to have any chance of fitting.
-
You'll probably need to swap it for a 964 smile since the 964 bumper don't have bellows either. The 964 smile is narrower so won't allevaite the visual impact completely but it should help.

The only bit I can see is there is a very small gap right where the horizontal part of the wing starts. I'm only going from my own 3.0 wing which is an aftermarket fibreglass one so it may differ to an original. The problem with mine is that there is a fibreglass bridge in the middle of the wing that goes across this gap to provide supprt for the lid catch. This means it offers no more room than a flat lid. I'm either going to have to remove the bridge and reinforce the catch area, fit racing style split pin catches or so a complete custom intercooler. How much for the Turbokraft kit?
