  1. Agreed - John it wasn't your first time was it?
  2. I'll be driving at a Charity Track Day so if anyone wants to pop in, say hi, or get some pax laps feel free. As it's a charity day, they will ask for a donation if you want pax laps, but the guy who hires the circuit Peter Saywell usually brings some fantastic cars for people to ogle at. His collection includes AFAIK 2 Konnigsegg (spelling?) CCS, a Zonda F & a Murcialago LP640 amongst others. He was featured on 5th gear.
  3. See you guys there on the 16th. I'll be travelling across France from Le Mans on the Monday.
  4. If it's like the 996 GT3 / GT2 systems the stock version will just provide slightly pressurised air into the engine bay. The 996 & 997 Cup cars not only have a ram air scoop below the rear wing but a connecting duct that buts up to the underside of the deck when it's closed taking the air directly into the intake & stopping it mixing with the hot air in the engine bay.
  5. Thought I'd try to rank my top 10 from the ones I've driven. 1) Spa 2) Oulton Park 3) Cadwell Park 4) Brands GP 5) Donington National (certainly not the GP) 6) Silverstone GP 7) Goodwood 8) Snetterton 9) Combe 10) Brands Indy Not done enough laps round the Ring yet to make my mind up.
  6. Not to mention the chance to see Bruce fully Sparco'd up Have a good time - reckon the Chevron will be especially awesome all the way from the Essess to Russell.
  7. Gary I didn't slow down because of the car. It was my son Matt feeling sick (again) I only just made it to the garage & he opened the door, removed his lid & promptly barfed all over the garage floor. We did do our best to clear up the mess
  8. Spot on Matteo. Initially I had you down as someone with a very quick car that couldn't drive it, but in the latter sessions you were going really well. Under braking & through the twisty bits I could keep up, but on the straights I was toast. Bad show you IB boys - Gary H was the ONLY IB on track & going very well. Bruce turned up, but after splashing the cash on his new race suit at GPR was too faint (or too Kentuky Fried) to sign up for any pax laps with me or anyone else & that was before I told him about my high speed 720 at Copse. He mentioned drinks the night before - but there was a distinct whiff of bovine poo poo Anyway, I was chasing 100mph in 4th, but turned in just too early at about 95mph. Hardly surprising, I ran wide on to the marbles. The back end broke away, but I caught it . However, I was then heading for the run off. The instant I hit the astro-turf I was a rapidly rotating passenger. I put both feet in then as the car was coming to a halt, engaged 1st & drove the rest of the lap. It was weird - I can't believe how calm I was, not even the usuall sick feeling afterwards. Brother-in-law Simon was passenger. I asked if he was scared & all he said was it had to have been spin of the day. Reckon's he wasn't scared at all Anyway As has been said before - too many stoppages. Apparently Melindi too many wrist bands & dished out a couple of lifetime bans!!! I've said elsewhere, we should have a whip round for the Silverstone Marshall's because they clearly don't have any yellow flags - It's straight to red, for every off with those boys
  9. Having done 2 wet days with my Toyo's I'd have to say thet they are possibly the best proper track tyre I've ever used in the rain. Maybe the extra weight of the GT3 helps press them on to the tarmac that bit harder, but you can probably tell from the relatively high degree of body "roll" (for a 3) that I'm getting good grip in this shot. The main down side is fairly fast wear rates - again the GT3's weight won't help, nor does the power & braking, but it's 4 days out of the rears for me so just bought 4 new rears & 2 new fronts off Simply Tyres - £912 delivered is not that bad for 225 & 285 by 18's, but it is still £912 Pretty noisy on the road at certain speeds too, but hey?
  10. Glad you guys had a good day. I was on the Indy on Monday - open pit lane which was a first for me on that track. Did I read earlier about a Carrera Club Sport on it's roof
  11. Bob - probably got loads of mud stuck in the linkage from driving through all those ploughed fields.
  12. Another vote for Mike Wilds from me. Not been with Sean - I'm sure he's very good, but Mike knows the older 911's & doesn't cost the earth.
  13. I had DZ02G's, which I thought very good - but they were VERY NOISY on the road - tread pattern on that tyre looks slightly different - are they the DZ03's?
  14. Agreed, at least out of all those I've done so far.

    Car cover

I have a Covercraft Noah which I bought from these guys https://www.bigskycarcovers.com/ It's my 2nd one from them - I had the same for the 3.2 Clubbie - & they are sooooooo much cheaper than Covercraft Europe for exactly the same product (and that was at a less advantageous exchange rate) It's breathable, but not waterproof. I don't know of anything that properly does both unless you get a Gretex cover made up. Downsides - As said above, you do need to make sure the car is clean before putting it on & if you take it off when wet it's a big old wet bundle to put somewhere that SWMBO won't object to.
