Day Job?
in my spare time i play with metal because i have a girls job for a faceless organisation who values their cheap 'offshore' workers over their uk based key staff.

You could try using a flame proof plummers soldering mat to protect the shroud and other flamable bits, they are pretty useful and being cloth like can be screwed up and forced into all sorts of flamable places, normally around a fiver from any plummers shop b&q etc, also really handy for stopping heat transfer from exhausts that sit near bodywork/wings etc

I can't make it, doing a late shift for petrol vouchers.

That's actually quite interesting, I discussed the pro's and con's of 964/993 intakes with Colin a few years ago whilst my 964 engine was being rebuilt, i had the option of using my 964 engine or my 993 engine as a base unit for my car as i was looking to use one of their supercharger kits with an Omex?(i think it was?) ecu with a custom loom, during our conversation's/email's over which intake to use the general consensus of opinion from 9M was to use the later 993 type as it was far more finely tuneable with the signal from the flap position sensor being akin to a sine wave rather than binary on/off signal as the 964 intake, i'm sure i have the emails printed out somewhere, in the end it proved far far too spendy (in my case the wrong side of 8k using my engine) which meant it unfotunately progressed no further than the costing stage so i used the rebuilt engine as it was and brought a bike

Can't remember what/if there are any differences in tinware/ducting between a SC and 3.2 but, i replaced my 3.2/later type tensioner with the dizzy in place, it's a bit fiddly but it is possible (on a 3.2 anyway)

My SC had the same int parking issue i.e it wouldn't park ,the column switch was fine it was the int wiper relay contacts, 'an expensive part from what i remember, but taken apart and cleaned carefully mine worked fine for the rest of the time in my ownership.

To be honest i think you just sold the best car for fast road and trackday fun, the 964 C2, Having been fortunate to own all three models in the past i.e 3.2/964/993 i firmly believe the 964 C2 is a superior car to earlier and later air cooled models you mention. If it were my money and i wasn't too bothered about backdate 'perfection' i would be looking for another 964 C2 and investigate a backdate on that, sort of having your cake and eating it. , only my personal opinion but having been there etc the 964 rules in my book. good luck with whichever path you decide take and keep us updated.

U really need to confirm if there is a spark, do you know anyone with AA or RAC PERSONAL COVER as they could call them up and say they were in your car etc just to establish the spark situation if your not happy to remove the plugs yourself? Being an SC i can't see why you can't just pull an injector (they are a push fit) and hold it in the end of a glass milk bottle whilst someone very briefly spins the motor over, this would confirm not only the fuel pump function but also fuel feed thru the filters and through the metering head accumilator and injectors. Is there no one in your local vicinity that has an SC that could drive over, swap the cdi and coil (one at a time) and prove which is flty? Unfortunately i sold my spare cdi box and coil if i still had it you could have borrowed that. There are over 4000 members on this forum, someone must have an SC and be close by to help out??
