  1. https://www.unit11.net/ Also Ben at Rennspeed in Retford in Notts. Neither is exactly full north I grant you.
  2. The cause of the Luton fire is now confirmed as unrelated to EVs - was apparently a diesel vehicle which may have been smouldering when it arrived: Widespread internet speculation claimed the fire was started by an electric or hybrid vehicle Bedfordshire Police and Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service now conclude the cause was a diesel It is believed the fire was started by an electrical fault while the car was moving The full report will be published this summer https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/investigation-finds-luton-airport-car-park-blaze-was-started-accidentally-by-a-diesel-vehicle/299672
  3. Another one guessing it was in the bucket. Nice 😐
  4. Best cars ever. Those wheels are quite desirable AFAIK.
  5. "Third of drivers admit hogging middle lane on motorways, survey suggests" Nearly one in three drivers admits to middle-lane hogging on motorways, a survey suggests. Some 32% of 2,500 respondents to a poll commissioned by National Highways said they do this at least ‘occasionally’, including 5% who confessed to ‘always’ doing it. More than a fifth (23%) of those questioned said they tailgate, which the RAC described as ‘frightening’. The Highway Code states drivers on motorways and dual carriageways should use the left lane unless they are overtaking, and allow ‘at least a two-second gap between you and the vehicle in front on high-speed roads’. Over to you 🤣
  6. I have been listening to Walter Isaacson's biography of Elon Musk. He had an incredibly challenging upbringing. It is a really good but somewhat depressing book. He said ""My mind is a storm. I don't think most people would want to be me. They may think they'd want to be me but they don't know, they don't understand." Re the Polestar thing, GoodCarBadCar summed it up like this and I tend to agree given my limited understanding of the situation and inherently optimistic bent: Volvo Cars is withdrawing as the primary production and design funding source for Polestar Via Geely Holdings, Polestar has secured a $950 million dollar loan from an international banking syndicate While Polestar does not have nearly the market valuation of some primary competitors, the fact that investment confidence is high enough to secure nearly $1 billion in loans shows that it stands to become a viable competitor The new investment allows for increases in both development & design departments, as well as helping to increase production capacity as Polestar is projecting 155,000 vehicles annually by end of 2025 We think that a $1 billion investment at a time when interest in EV’s is diminishing is a very strong vote of confidence in Polestar, and will allow them to capitalize on opportunities, address challenges, and push to become a viable top-tier luxury EV maker One of the smaller players, Polestar, who until late in 2023 was funded primarily by Volvo Cars and Geely Holdings, has recently acquired nearly $1 billion in secured loans from a banking syndicate that saw it as a strong investment as EVs are expected to rebound from their current slow sales in 2023 in the next few years.
  7. It's selling a chunk to a consortium of banks. I think Polestar is probably my favourite EV brand design wise - as a Volvo anorak I am surprised that Sweden/China is not staying close. I would always want a brave CEO - sadly the difference between brave and deranged is sometimes only seen years down the road.
  8. Volvo cuts out of Polestar (and Renault and VW hold off on floating their EV wings) I think EVs are ultimately the way forward and Alastair's setup with solar panels and a powerbank is how I would do it too. Investment is a long term game - pulling out now seems a bit short sighted. But then most people do not get compounding or leverage so perhaps not surprising. Buying a JLR EV is pretty damn brave IMHO...
  9. Just clocked that this is today - hope you guys had fun!
  10. Statistically, there is a significant increase in risk from 1k to 3k miles in a south east or otherwise urban postcode. Sometimes it is just about "we don't particularly want this business but will take it if you want to pay £X". It was £135 to insure the Figaro though Quoteline Direct/Gallaghers with no NCB, no mileage limits and kept on the street but with a Cat 1 immobiliser.
  11. Weejock also had issue with Eisenmann on his 3.2. I had to have the flanges rewelded for him by a mate who has a jig. That looks like a cool project! Nice buy 👍
  12. So the developer thinks it is an Android update of some sort - it may be connected to the location code. "Have there been any software updates from Android in this time? The most recent theme update only modified the footer template file. The topic view code hasn't been touched in a long time so unfortunately I'm struggling to think of a way that the latest update has caused this." Sorry we can't help out with this one.
  13. Laid up cover should be fine, Tim. Talk to your insurer. Subscribing members get a discount with Classicline and they are generally pretty helpful AFAIK.
  14. It works fine on my iPhone so dunno. I will email the theme designer and ask if he has any insight. We haven't changed anything in the last week.
  15. Sounds like a great day - look forward to some pics. I was down in Barnet looking at two cars caught up in a divorce case. Lovely day for it 😄
  16. If you can sell 2 you can sell 200. The challenge is internal - maybe read Steven Pressfield's book The War of Art. You have proved it is absolutely possible to do this and now the work is just to keep smashing into the resistance within yourself. And that is hard!
  17. I can't do that from the back end yet as the IB Supporter transaction is still pending with Paypal and the paying subscription has been cancelled. When it all shakes out and is confirmed with the back end by Paypal then you should be able to just upgrade from the subs page no problem. Thanks for supporting the board 👍🏻
  18. No we don't offer that as an option. I could probably delete them all and you could start again but that would take away quite a lot of board content.
  19. Yes Gruppe IB adds the functionality. The IB Supporter uploads allowance is a limited storage based on small scale/occasional posting including for sale ads. When people are using the board much more then it is hoped/somewhat assumed that the value it provides as a 'hardcore user' and community member would encourage spending the extra 4p a day/£1.25 a month. If you feel that the IB Supporter is not for you then we can refund no problem.
  20. Ah the mighty Figaro! Taken on a lunch date with Jonny - we make a lovely pair 🥰 Mabel the Figaro was a gift from a former IBer - now that is what I call a good year. Thanks for the bday wishes. After a trip to Germany looking at SCs for sale, I got taken to Cambridge for a lovely weekend and a good time was had. Cheers my dears x
  21. I worked on an ex-Motorhub 911 just before Xmas - Cat D GT2. Someone has to sell these things...
  22. Wishing all IBers a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year! 🥳 Special shout out to our subscribing IB Supporters and Gruppe IB patrons who continue to make such a difference. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. The forum is 18 years old in February and we have some plans to mark the occasion. I hope you all get to fully celebrate the end of 2023 and the promise of what 2024 may bring. I am very excited for next year as the start of a new phase of life. Sending love and positive vibes out to all of you! IB has grown into quite a unique online space and you can all be proud of yourselves for maintaining our culture of caring and respect.
