  1. can’t do that week but don’t let my absence hold you back
  2. Nice looking conversion but I would offer the problem with old Boxsters isn't so much their bodywork but their running gear and the woeful parts quality when Porsche switched to the 986/996...
  3. The names for the variants are bit daft. Turbo and Turbo S variants of the Taycan were silly enough but the current top range leccy Macan is called the Turbo Electric. Even more oxymoronic.
  4. And use a wasted spark setup or something different?
  5. At least that article identifies that some of the issue is created by a lack of RTFM by the owners; the Telegraph’s analogous article made no mention of that. They don’t miss many opportunities to bash electric cars. And in the other corner! https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/electric-car-snow-cold-weather-tesla-b2481002.html @Jonny Hart does your 914EV have a way for you to tell it to start preparing for charging? Or does that only commence once it’s plugged in? Not that it’s a cold weather car but curious how all these classics converted to EVs cope.

    £425K?

    original car now at £325K…
  7. And C&M have just announced they’re opening “The Hut” at the junction of the A272 and A32 in West Meon, between Petersfield and Winchester.
  8. Ian, thanks for the great idea. Will be coming up from near Chichester if anyone wants to meet up along the way. Liphook services on the A3? Or Wisley services prior to the trundle round the M25?
  9. That you even know of the group... 😉
  10. The Bernina pass - one of my faves because the road surface is so good, the views are fab, the bends flow nicely and I spent time in nearby Pontresina every other summer in my yoof. Can’t say growing up as that hasn’t happened. Yet.
  11. But at least it’s (finally) a step in the right direction.
  12. I buy things from RP from time to time. Only one hiccup - they sent me a mismatched pair of Fuchs wheels. They asked me to send one back - to avoid the shipping and duty hassles I insisted they organise the shipping and email me the returns label. They did so and it went back with no aggro on my part. The replacement was sent with a customs code meaning I didn’t have to pay another round of duty.
  13. If you're reading this thread you might well be a supporter of supplying trucks for Ukraine; please consider signing this petition and passing it on https://chng.it/zYT47CF5gQ
  14. The change in diameter looks to be too low for the tool to be meant to sit in the hub; the width of the step or shelf seems too small. The contact surface of the tool needs to be a toroid as big as reasonably possible, or at least the same size as the inner end of the hub.
  15. thinking about it… the OD of the shorter small diameter section needs to just smaller than the ID of the rear wheel bearing. the length of that section should be roughly the width of the rear wheel bearing. The OD of the larger diameter section can probably be measured from the axle shaft’s diameter but isn’t too critical so long as it can fit into the banana arm. or just make the whole thing the same diameter- just smaller than the bearing’s ID.
  16. Sorry, these sold some time back. 🤦‍♂️
  17. The chap who bought my targa a few years ago looked at a car Phil was selling and commented that it had had more hits than Elvis…
  18. Can't help but think that they're won't be many choices other than Wayne - presumably needs to be someone who can burn the EPROM chips. It's a shame this product was never adapted for the 911. https://www.millerperformancecars.com/store/war-chip/best-bmw-chip-miller-w-a-r-chip-detail
  19. have just sent each of you the other’s contact details via WhatsApp
  20. On the back of WC’s posts and a couple of chats I got into contact with the Noxaid crew in early August and set the wheels in motion to add another drop to the ocean. A mate and I bought a tired but roadworthy Mitsubishi Shogun Sport, checked it over, replaced the head gasket (an unexpected embuggerance), loaded it with medical supplies and together with 3 other 4WDs and a refrigerated van drove it 1375 miles to Lviv. We set off early on a Friday morning and arrived mid afternoon on the Sunday. We travelled back to Krakow on the Monday and flew back home the next day. We felt quite safe throughout our journey and were given an incredibly warm and heartfelt welcome by our hosts and their families in their homes. Their spirit and will to achieve victory is indomitable; they are fighting for their homeland and their freedom. It was a sobering and at times heart wrenching trip and we’re fortunate to have been in a position to make the commitment and contribution that we did. It also reminded us that we take for granted that we live in a country where our friends and family are safe and well and sleep easily in their own beds every night. Huge thanks to WC for being the catalyst for our contribution. As he's already said it's easy to get involved; if the idea resonates with you like it did with us please do get into touch. Slava Ukraini! 💙💛
  21. They do keep the muck from accumulating in nooks and crannies; that muck (especially if doused with salt water) holds the moisture that causes the corrosion. IMHO it's better to have them than not. Better still is to not drive the car on salty roads.
  22. I found this video to be very misleading - https://youtu.be/W4wpG7dK1zY The hub needed to be hammered out of the bearing; levers wouldn't budge it. The bearing came out the hub with a similar puller to what was used in the video but a lot of effort was required, far more than that video implies. Pressing the new bearing in also required considerable force and as @jevvy has already noted it's tricky to get it to go in square. The M12 theaded rod that I was using was old and had been used before - I ended up stripping the threads due to the torque required. The bearing race that was stick on the hub needed to be cut off with a dremel; there was no room to get the jaws of a puller between the race and the hub. Either an SC is so much easier than a 3.2 or that video has been staged. And my noisy bearing: IMG_6678.mov
