Hi Michael, what track is that? All the cones made me a little dizzy!? I race in the US quite a bit but mostly east coast tracks in an old corvette. Agree left foot braking aids stability, but for my car its usually a 3rd gear (4speed) trick to settle the car before a sharp turn in... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So did I Angus... one of only 2000 - an attempt to make us owners feel special. At least I can re use the Jiffy bag to post my eBay mirror I just sold! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice job Scott, those SSI's do look a nice addition. Clearly not having heat is a problem, in the summer I had the opposite where I couldn't turn it off, believe me that is also no good! Are you a Vette fan or do you own one too? I'm lucky to have an old 58 Vette alongside the Porsche - totally different experience driving the two!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi all, have been doing some research in advance of the holidays as I intend to fit some retro accessories I've picked up for the car. After a long search I have found an original Toronto and a BEA80 out of a 944 Turbo. I also picked up off of eBay an original NEC11a in car phone which I think looks the nuts! I have bench tested everything and all work well... Just wanted to confirm a few things with folks before I go about hacking into things. Currently have a modern pioneer unit which I'll be removing. I have: - Brown = earth (I'll call this 'E') - Red = constant ('C') - Green = switched ('S') - Aerial - straightforward - Then various speakers wires (some of which I'll have to figure out which is +/- but less concerned about that - Nothing else Plan is to.... Use one of those plastic connector blocks from maplin to connect E,C,S, at the loom to the female plug, running an in-line fuse in the switched cable (what amp? 15?) - which will be in addition to the one in the fuse board. I don't know if the radio is stand along fuse - I have one of johnnys retrofit boards. Next, on the male lead I intend to essentially pig tail the power cables to power BOTH the radio and the carphone. Bearing in mind it'll be fused at the box and in-line. The phone won't get much if any use... it won't work on the network anymore but you can power up and gives a tone. I'll then connect the round din lead to the EQ which is going in the glove box... together with the 4x speaker wires. I forget if the EQ need its own power? If yes, can I run three power supplies from the same connector? Hope that makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Suspension restoration - where to start?
chodosh replied to chodosh's topic in Steering & Suspension
Okay, so next point of clarification would a supersport run with standard 3.2 shocks, or would it actually run turbo, I get confused and I read different things do any of you guys have a original widebody? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Fancy a swap for this 997 mirror VT? It's a bit unusual, from a 997 GT2 import... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ivan you are the man! VT... is the glass good and is it for sale? I'm after RH side, guess these must be handed L/R. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mirror on my 87 911 has a small chip in it. It's the type where I use a screwdriver to turn the locking mechanism to release the glass, then there are two electric connectors which I presume operate the electric motor (when it wants to work). OPC want £80 for a mirror.... lots of flag mirrors for sale on eBay, some I think are from 944's... Is all the mirror glass the same? I can see the flag bases are different, but can't find detail on the glass. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

These are the ones fitted to my 87 Supersport. Have been on the hunt for some replacements and would be willing to pitch in if a run is put into production. You only need the plastic housing as the mesh is glued in... based in NW London. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My car is an 87 and for some reason I have duplicates in the history file from 1982/1983. These are in very nice condition - see pics. The dealer book is pretty cool... shows maps for all Porsche dealers globally in 1982. You rarely seem to see these up for sale as they're not as precious as service books etc. Some guy has the dealer guide (different year) for sale in the US for $200 - a bit rich! £60 the pair plus a few quid postage seems fair. Suspension restoration - where to start?
chodosh replied to chodosh's topic in Steering & Suspension
If I use the guy's ramp, he'll need access to it for (paying) customers and I can envisage that this might stretch across more than a sat morning's work. -
Suspension restoration - where to start?
chodosh replied to chodosh's topic in Steering & Suspension
I didn't have a real preference where to start. Whichever end is easier. Am told that I can use a friends ramp so that might make things easier, just need to allow for moving the car around without the wheels on whilst things get done! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Suspension restoration - where to start?
chodosh replied to chodosh's topic in Steering & Suspension
Removing the torsion bars looks a bit of a faff. Plus I just put new stone guards on so really don't fancy removing them to get them out.... Aiming for a light freshen, maybe bearings, bushes and shocks. Am used to working on my old corvette which is prehistoric so this is a little new! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Car went through an MOT the other week and passed okay. Had a dig around underneath whilst up on the ramp and the suspension looks a little tired. Paint on the shocks peeling and anti roll bar looking rusty etc. I have a Bentley manual and am reasonably capable, but I wondered if there's a good order of attacking the job. I don't want to go over the top, just a light spruce up... Car is a supersport, so uses 930 running gear. What are the major differences? Is it more cost effective to simply replace the shocks or restore? I don't want too hard a ride so do people advise against poly bushes? The front looks a more complicated proposition as I believe removing shocks is complicated. Is this true? Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi all, I was on the lookout for an original radio for my supersport for ages. Long story short I have now ended up with two!? For sale is a Bremen SQR46 and BQA 107 4x25 amplifier. (I'm keeping the other Toronto and BEA80 EQ to go in the car) The amp is in 'like new' condition. Tested and working well, the Radio is in very nice condition, no code needed etc. does have a small green dot on the screen but doesn't affect its working at all. Also have a cage, cables and speaker connections. I must make it clear that I'll not be including the simply red cassette! Also included are copies of manual and original docs for the Amplifier. £250+ postage Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Disconnected plug under dash - any ideas
chodosh replied to chodosh's topic in Electrics including starting/charging
Hi guys, I can't test until the weekend and unlikely I'll get around to changing if broken for a good few months. Happy for Mondrian to take it if needed. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Disconnected plug under dash - any ideas
chodosh replied to chodosh's topic in Electrics including starting/charging
this is why the forum is GREAT. The plug mentioned is definitely the BOSCH fan unit that is shown above. I presumed that it was unplugged for a reason but I'll try it and see if it makes a whine. I had previously had problems with heating but just had new quadrants, cables, fresh air fan and all sorts and its finally working okay. Ivan thanks, I may take you up on that offer. What would you want for the Unit? Thanks Adam -
I've been busy messing around with the car (in the dark) as you do... Have been trying to identify what remains of the original stereo wiring but whilst under the dash I noticed a 4pin male plug with corresponding female plug that is disconnected. Before reconnecting I wanted to know what it's for? It's by the ash tray... Any ideas? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I took a 2.7 RS lightweight around castle combe the same day I did 4 laps in my 3.2 supersport. The overall experience was interesting. I felt more through the wheel on the RS and more generally speaking it was more responsive, springy and felt comfortable hanging the back out knowing it will allow you to ease through it. Wasn't pushing my car hard, but it felt well planted, but HEAVY, more laboured and less responsive in most areas apart from the brakes.

I have an 87 Supersport which I have been restoring.... Next job is tool roll and accessories. Looking at the air compressors people had at the Silverstone classic for judging, most people had the black hard plastic inter compressor. My car has an orange inflator, made by Bayr, west Germany. Pretty sure this is a genuine OE item and seems rarer than the black plastic one. Is it the case that things vary by each car depending on dealer etc. My car came from AFN.
