  1. The car had some bodywork restoration in the 90's when the last (second) owner bought it, so it's in really good shape in all the usual areas. The o/s kidney and inner wing are being done at the moment along with a general body tidy up, re finishing the wheels and anything else it needs. It was taken off the road in 04 and stored for 14 years, it's been 'recommissioned' over the last couple of years, including an Autofarm engine build!!!
  2. Amazing work. I don’t want it to end....😆
  3. Mrs WC is a world class stone layer!!! Absolutely brilliant.
  4. Just picking up on a line by flatsix777, ‘the Bmw does everything so well but just doesn’t excite’ I’ve had loads of them for years, mainly 6 cylinder petrols, and a few diesels as well. And your right, and it didn’t dawn on me til I read what you put. They just don’t excite. They do do every really well........but....!
  5. fantastic job!! next time (!!!!), lay the stone on sand and cement, rake it back and point it in lime.......... :-)
  6. Black with natural/creamy white dots.
  7. I've got a pair. They're new, never been used and are still in the original packaging. They were made for RHD SWB car but I'd imagine they would fit an IB car. Someone will be along to say if they will or not I'd imagine. £120 if you want them. PM me.
  8. I'm in Abingdon. I'm building a house and garage myself at the moment so can appreciate your current position. Mine is nice and easy (!!!) compared to yours, block and render. I've done stone before, the end result is fantastic and worth the hassle/expense. I'm much less hands on now, I'm just head labourer and bill payer!!!
  9. The stone work is great, is that Hornton stone?
  10. He's a hell of a driver as a relatively old man, imagine how good he was 40 years ago!!

    EVO

I was standing in Waitrose earlier reading the EVO review of the new 991R. Everytime you read a review of any modern 911 the reviewer is desperately trying to find the '911ness', pure 911, 911 DNA, raw 911 or whatever poetic turn of phrase the reviewer can dream up. The company it's self seem now to be trying to get back to building 'sports cars' for the enthusiast, GT4, 911R. Can you see where I'm going with this……………... It seems simple to me… buy a sensibly priced older car, remove some unnecessary stuff, weight, add a bit more of the necessary stuff, brakes, suspension, steering, and what you're left with is pure 911. You don't need a stripped out track car, (unless that floats your boat), it can still be practical enough for every day use and you still have £100k left over. Easy.
  12. I did get the full tour. Brumos car, 3 2.7rs's, numerous 65/66 race cars, various other race cars, modified's and hot rods. Dansk box with 84mm tail pipe. Just need to find the time to do some track days now!!!!
  13. Well, the hot off the press news is……….. 100db @ 4500 rpm. I took a trip to BS auto sport today as they're the only people I could find who had a decibel meter. Never been before………. bloody hell they've got some amazing stuff. I'm gobsmacked that it's so quiet!!!
  14. I'm a track day virgin so haven't been through the testing process. The 'rules' say engine running at 3/4 maximum speed. Is that red line or the max rpm you're going to use, i.e, self imposed rev limit. I'm unlikely to be going to the red line to try and preserve my elderly motor!!!
  15. I've got 2 in, 1 out with the 84mm outlet. I got the info about standard volume from Tuthill's so I'm assuming they know their stuff. Will mine pass the tests??
  16. I'm sure this will have been asked before but……... Just backdated the exhaust system on my 3.2 carrera to SSi's and dansk back box. The tail pipe on the back box is a little on the 'max power' size. It does make a fantastic noise though but……. I haven't been able to measure the volume of it but I'd guess it's too loud for track day noise limits, 105Db's, but I don't know for sure. I'm told from a very knowledgable source that a bog standard car is 106Db's. I'm sure they're are many folks out there who've done the same mods and know what the noise level is. Does it pass track day noise limits, and if not what do you do to make it pass?? TIA J.
  17. Can't comment on the new show because I haven't watched it. Can't abide Evans. Cant see me watching it. The old format was becoming a bit stale, but I would still have watched a new series of it. 5th gear never did it for me, VPL is annoying, can't see the point of Plato and Needell power sliding every car they have on test. Poor imitation of TG I always thought.

    930 Backdate

More, more ,more……… Come on. it must be done now.
  19. a good looking flat lidder. What are the mirrors, I'm looking to get rid of my flag mirrors for something a bit sexier. do they fit on standard bases?
  20. not that i'm an expert on Oxfordshire lay bye's (not a dogger) but is that one near nuneham courtney??? also was your white sc in didcot railway stn car park last monday??
  21. It's a great location. What the owners are doing with it, attracting the motor related businesses and holding events like this will only go from strength to strength. I went to one last year which was good but this one was far better.
