  1. Good luck with the new acquisition - great cars. Hope you have had a really good look and poke around for rust. Despite the galvanising, they can rot quite badly. If you ever get to the point that you want to go back to the original look and reinstall your impact bumpers and fog lights, let me know. I have an original front valance (in black) with the fog light mounting holes as well as the original fog lights sitting in the garage. Both off an '82 SC.
  2. I'm not really drooling over them TBH, but I thought they were a lot of fun out celebrating the jubilee at one of our local walks yesterday. I thought having the Cross of St George on the Messerschmitt was a nice touch. 😎
  3. Brilliant! If I did something similar every time it rained in Bolton it wouldn't be pretty ...
  4. For me (a shortish 5.10), it wasn't so much the diameter but the reach when the pedals were right. Hence, a Mod .07 for me.
  5. I'm off to South Africa soon and a friend told me to watch this - Your daughter might enjoy it as well. 🙂
  6. Fleeting glimpse as it went past the end of the farm road I was walking along yesterday - red coupe with what looked like a tea-tray. Don't often see other IBs in my neck of the woods.
  7. All yours. 🙂 Will PM my contact details.
  8. I've had good experiences with Werk924 before. You may also be able to match it with something more standard from a general trim company. I've used this company in Salford for vinyl from time to time - https://www.segalmotortrimmings.net/
  9. Before I take it to the scrap yard, does anyone want a free air con compressor/clumsy paper weight? Was working when taken off the car in 2015 and stored in the garage since but I have no idea if it still works. No £ required, just let me know and come and collect it in the next couple of weeks if it would be any use.
  10. I had a feeling they changed at some point, but wasn't sure when.
  11. I've got a spare oil cross-over pipe - part number 911-107-743-12. It was only on the car for a few hundred miles before I fitted SSIs. Not sure it's the same part you want - mine is an SC - but if it is let me know. John PS Not sure why it's so grubby. Think it was over judicious use of some sort of under body protection!
  12. I can only go off my experience and I suppose everyone's mileage varies. The only sound proofing in my car is the pad in the engine bay - all the interior is stripped - but I do have a reasonably sensible exhaust (SSIs (I agree about keeping heat in the UK) plus a Dansk 2:1 sport muffler). I haven't measured it from the driver's seat but used to fly light aircraft and always wore earplugs under my headset - it feels like the noise from the car doesn't come close to that. Obviously, on the move it gets noisier (as much from the firm suspension as from the engine and gearbox) but never feels uncomfortable. I guess the key is for the OP to try out the car at PS out and see what he thinks. I just wouldn't assume the noise is unliveable without trying it first. As it's a left hooker and she's on the offside, she's probably just scared into silence. 🙂
  13. My SC was unopened at 193k miles and only smoked a little on start up if it had been stood. Was only stripped in the end because I was modding the car.
  14. Having modded an SC with a similar aim, I can testify that it's a lot cheaper to buy one already done than do it all yourself. Parts prices can be fairly eye-watering. However, it's all about use, what do you want the car for, and condition - especially, as already mentioned, the bodywork. If the car is just for weekend blasts and the odd track day, then, as long as the exhaust is reasonably silenced, then I don't think they are really that loud inside - all the mechanical noise is behind you - and you have to love the sound anyway. I've certainly done a few weekends away with the missus and noise was never the issue - it was more the seats and harnesses tbh and her limit without a break is about an hour and a half. Best thing, as also already suggested, is try out out some examples, compare them with the PS car and see what suits best. Nice problem to have. 🙂
