  1. Thought I'll update, en route coming to me now. Checked out to be OK. Crunchy 2nd gear synchro, 145psi across all cylinders, no visible rust or signs of poor repairs.
  2. Thanks for the insight Phil, didn't notice the braided hose there until you mentioned it... The current owner did also mention he fitted the stainless headers recently, but have kept the original unit/heat exchangers. I'm most curious about the condition of the engine, fingers crossed it might have already been sorted. Its a good sign that there has already been some improvements made I guess.
  3. Hi all, First post here, have had a few transaxles over the years and an early 911 project that never got too far, but I am finally looking to purchase my first IB 911 next week! The car in question is a matching numbers Japan delivered 911 in Grand Prix white and lobster leatherette interior. I will be getting a PPI on the car prior to committing to purchasing the car, but as the car is located in a rural part of the country hours away from the closest Porsche specialist, I have instead arranged a local well-known aircooled VW specialist to give it an inspection. Aside from the ducktail, it seems to be in very original condition...although I'm far from an expert when it comes to trainspotting with these mid-year models. Being a Japanese import, there is no books and records from its time prior to arriving into Australia in 2008. It looks like there has been some updates on the engine such as the updated fan that could be sign that it might have had some of the known 2.7 issues already addressed. It was noted that the car also received a respray at some point while in Japan, hopefully there isn't anything nasty... I was looking for things that I need to make sure is checked during the PPI and came across this website, looks like you guys are a wealth of IB knowledge! Is there anything specifically I should point my VW specialist to take special note of? Particular areas known for rust, mechanical components that should be checked, expensive parts that I should make sure are present, quirks unique to the Japanese IB midyears, etc? Below are some images that the seller has sent me in case you guys are interested. And thank you in advance for any assistance! Looking forward to being part of this site if I end up going ahead with the purchase. Cheers, Vinny
