  2. I have a clean pair of 6’s that I’d swap for 7’s if you were interested?
  3. Could have been fuelling? These modern fuels degrade quickly, may have been injector related? Pleased you got sorted 👍
  4. Thank you, I just want to discount a change to design.
  5. Hi fellow 3.2’s! I’ve currently got my late model 3.2 Sport coupe in for some bodywork resto (kidney bowls etc). While it’s in paint I’m sorting out various niggles that these old girls accumulate over the years. One area where I need some advice relates to the rear valance which on the face of it appears original. However, since buying the car a couple of years ago I’ve always been bemused by the fit of the rear valance. On my previous 3.2, the valance tucked behind the rear edge of the lower fender (directly beneath the bellows) on the O/S. However, on my current car, the valance buts directly up to the end of the fender? is this a feature of the later model cars or has somebody changed the valance, possibly for a Turbo or Supersport part? The first photo is my car, the second a screen grab from the web and represents what I thought was normal? TIA Phil
  6. Hi Mike, Have you checked the idle stabilisation valve is not sticking? I don’t think it will be this, however it’s worth checking. I did have have something similar on my previous 86 car, I eventually traced that back to a broken wire in the back of the MAF wiring harness connector block. I’d suggest checking the harness / engine connections as the intermittent symptoms sound electrical! Good luck! phil
  7. Good call Matt, I’ve just done a search and found this! Watch out for an order soonest!!
  8. I’m just about to replace the indicator stalk on my 88 3.2, has anybody got any experience of the OE. Match Classic hardware from Design 911? They’re roughly £200 cheaper than an OE Porsche part, not sure if it’s worth the saving? Thanks Phil
  9. Lovely car, looks identical to mine! i’m based in Lincoln, not too far away, plenty of PCGB events going on and local car shows. Enjoy your new toy!!
  10. If you don’t fancy replacements, you could try Cerakote, it’s very thin and virtually indestructible. I have just used a lad in Brigg (North Lincolnshire) to do my engine fan, he’s done a fantastic job. www.swpowdercoat.co.uk
  11. Just doing this, it’s quite easy! 1) Remove the fan unit from the car, be careful not to split the paper /foil pipe as I’ve just done! 2) Remove the end cap of the motor and split the fan housing by removing the clips. 3) Remove the two motor retaining screws 4) Carefully support the fan housing with the motor beneath, with a small drift and hammer, tap the end of the motor drive shaft where it’s visible in the centre of the impeller. The motor should push out of the impeller. Just take your time!
  12. If you have trouble undoing the brake unions, try applying some local heat with a gas torch and liberal applications of easing fluid (WD40 or similar). Be patient and don’t rush it or you can run into a whole host of additional work!
  13. I think I’ve found what the issue with mine is! Fan impeller melted into the back plate, now freed off. The motor appears free, however it’s blown a local fuse that somebody has put it (no surprise), sadly no spare so can test yet. sadly, I’ve ripped the paper / foil hose removing the fan, it’s damn tight in there. Looks like another follow-up repair to be done!
  14. Fantastic, tomorrow’s job is to sort my footwell blowers!
  15. I’m quite tempted to try a set of LED H4, anybody else gone that way?
  16. Good luck with that list, sounds like you’ve got your hands full!
  17. Tim, when you replaced the motor, did you check the setting position of the fan on the motor spindle? There isn’t much clearance between the fan and the housing and I expect it’s easy to end up with it rubbing when reinstalled! Good luck with those projects, Spring is just round the corner!! Phil
  18. Winter projects are now well advanced. Front blower fan sorted, after testing I traced the fault to a dead motor. Replacement sourced from Design911, I managed to replace the motor only by very carefully removing the fan from the motor spindle, I was slightly nervous due to the age of the plastic! Now on with the engine cooling fan and shroud refurb. After carefully removing the hardware, I’ve shipped the off to SW Powder Coat and Cerakote in Brigg, I went with Armour Black for the shroud and Bright Nickel for the fan. I can’t wait to see the finished hardware in the flesh! Next project, footwell blower fans, ones not working and the other makes a terrible noise! You gotta love an old 811!
  19. All, just to feedback on this topic, I had a great result with Heritage Insurance, they achieved quite a saving over Classicline! I’m not too sure if this was a new customer discount and if I’ll get stung at renewal, however I was happy with the end result and achieved around a £200 saving over separate policies. interestingly out of the three quotes that I got, they ranged from just under £600 to £385! It still pays to shop around!
  20. I use mine all the time, never had an issue!
