  5. Guys, thanks. I did think hard about what I should post and perhaps I over egged it a bit - sorry about that. I did want to get the message over tho' about your health being your responsibility, it's not your Doc's or the NHS's responsibility. I'd be lying if I said the first couple of days after getting the news about the cancer being terminal wasn't a struggle, but you know life goes on and it really becomes a battle of the mind once you come to terms with it. Spending time with fellow cancer patients in chemo is humbling and there are far more tragic circumstances than mine that you get to know about. By focusing on what I can achieve over next few months is providing me with a strong motivation to look forward and do something worthwhile. I'm positive about the next 9 to 12m and I never look back. I retain a sense of humour - I'm not the least bit sensitive to my circumstances so rib me as much as you like guys! Also I've never said "why me". I'm now 63 and had a good innings so no regrets. Ben, be great to catch up as it's been a long time. You're working so let me know when and where suits best. Jevvy and anyone else feeling they don't know what to say - it's not an issue for me just throw your ideas and thoughts at me. Thanks for your post Jevvy as I think its helped break the ice so to say. Alex, The Equinox cruise is a deffo for me this year so catch up with many of you on the cruise if not before. Les and I got lost the last time I did the cruise so I won't be following him this time! . Twinny's shindig sounds good too - just turn up or do I wait for an invite? First time to this one. C
  6. From JG: This is an important thread that all of you should read. Life flies by and one day you are gone. Chris was a gentle guy and enjoyable company. I enjoyed visiting the house a couple of times and seeing what he was up to. RIP mate. Posted June 2nd by BenC I'm very sad to have to share the news that today Chris passed away. I've known him and the family for many years and they are all lovely. In recent times Chris and I met up over coffee to talk through all the incredible things he has been doing to raise awareness for this cruel disease. He is an inspiration - so tonight I'll be lifting a pint or two in his honour. Here's what he has been up to: https://www.facebook.com/RATP88/?pnref=story https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ChrisDrummond-RaceAgainstTime JG: Below is Chris's original post. The thread that follows is in chronological order. Hi all, I need your help and advice to support my goal to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer over the coming 6 to 9 months. First a bit about my situation over the last 6 or so months and why I’m focussed on raising funds for Cancer Research UK / Stand Up To Cancer. Late June I departed New York on the final leg of this … https://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/ Five days into the crossing this happened ………. http://www.itv.com/news/london/2016-06-25/round-the-world-yachtsman-airlifted-to-hospital/ I hope the links work? After two weeks hospitalisation in Halifax, Nova Scotia I was told my heart was OK however following tests and scans they identified that I had advanced secondary cancer of the liver. The medical team in Halifax, who were absolutely brilliant, arranged for me to have further tests and biopsies when I returned to the UK to find out where the primary cancer was located. Following the scans and biopsies in mid August my Oncology Consultant told me the primary cancer was in the Oesophagus, that there was no cure for my condition and that any treatment would be about prolonging life. The prognosis was that I had between 12 and 18 months at best depending on how I responded to chemotherapy treatment which I started early September. I’ve now completed the 6 cycle regime of chemo and will have a scan end of January to find out whether the chemo has arrested the cancer or not. The mid- term review after 3 cycles of chemo was pretty positive so fingers crossed. The sad thing about all this is that I had problems with digestion and intermittent chest pains for about 9 months before being hospitalised and chose to ignore them telling myself I’d get it all sorted when I returned to the UK following the Clipper Race. A 30 second search on the internet will tell you that problems with digestion and chest pains are symptoms associated with Oesophageal cancer! My message to those I meet during the course of fund raising activities will be, as I’m telling to you guys now, DON’T IGNORE ANY SYMPTOMS THAT APPEAR ABNORMAL OR GIVE YOU CONCERN, HAVE THEM LOOKED AT IMMEDIATELY AND GET THEM SORTED! Apologies for the dramatic nature of this message but I want to make this clear to everyone. Where I need your help related to fund raising: My plan is to use my Carrera 3.2 as the focus for fund raising at a series of events up and down the country. To date I’ve held positive sessions with the team from Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) about my plans and they’re supportive and keen to help. Also a couple of Porsche specialists, one in particular, have offered back room support and space on stands at prominent Porsche events. I’ll post more on developments as they firm up. Q’s for you …. Does anyone have experience of large scale fund raising? It’s the first time I’ve done this and want to find out the do’s and don’ts to successful fund raising. Please contact me if you have this experience and are willing to share what you know. I know there’s a wealth of knowledge around the Porsche and IB marques on the IB forum but don’t know where it all exists. If anyone has a business or works in a business who may be prepared to offer support please contact me. Where are the key Porsche events up and down the country and when are they taking place? I know of several but keen to know more about where good fund raising opportunities exist. I’m building a diary of events to attend so please let me know of one’s you regularly attend or may be involved in organising where I could bring along my 3.2. My daughter suggested an IB calendar with nude owners draped across the bonnet. Joking aside just the cars to feature J . Perhaps something to review later in the year? I look forward to hearing from you. Chris
  7. Since attending one of CG's IB open days a few years back I promised myself that I'd get Chalkie set up properly. I thought it was driving ok before going to see Chris and Peter but wanted to get that last 10% out of the set up. Well, they've done a superb job and pretty much transformed the way the car handles and behaves when pressing the metal. The 10% improvement I thought was there turned out to be 50%!! Chalkie's more balanced, smooth and now feels as if I'm in control when driving. Chris and Peter are perfectionists and I didn't get Chalkie back until they were absolutely certain it was set up just right. They set the bar for knowledge, customer experience, professionalism and attention to detail. Great job guys and hope to see you all again soon.
  8. +1 for JG. Echo Jevvy. Once done you can drive all you want . Like I am right now. You're in Cookham, not far from Marlow. if you fancy a pint! C

  10. Yes, welcome Rakerone and hope to see you round South Bucks. Seems to be quite a following in the area of late. Must get to the TIPEC Tuesday night do's soon too as . there seem to be lots of nice IB's on display! Chris
  11. Hi, Genuine Porsche panel. I've seen aftermarket wings, other panels and this is a different quality altogether. Bought from Tripe as an original panel. C
  12. Very good used condition and bought from the highly regarded trader of all things IB, Tripe. Lonely and needs a 911 to become attached to. Red, as you can see from pics . I'm based Marlow, South Bucks. £225 which is what I paid for it. Bulky and heavy to post so collection only. That said I'm out and about working in southern England much of the time and happy to meet up to handover if that helps the buyer.
  13. Great, thanks for that Fred. Off for an inspired drive to work now ............ in an old Disco!
  14. For anyone interested the Club Sport in Mark's photo's and being sold by Hexagon is a cool £195k Chris
  15. Cheers guys, I'll post info if I get hold of any. C
