  1. I cant afford Viyella shirts either (I pay too much tax!)
  2. Of course it does!? Any estimate of ultimate mortality rates and critical treatment requirement can only be projected to any reasonable level of accuracy if corresponding data regarding current real total levels of infection is understood. We simply havent got this, hence the predictions of ultimate mortality rates ranging by a factor of 10.
  3. I raised this point in response to Gary's earlier "selected" UK v Italy critical care bed numbers data to make the point that you also rightly make Fred that how the money is spent is probably more relevant than how much is spent - I fully agree with you that in terms of value for money the UK is loosing out. The NHS as an organisation is in my experience highly immobile with much of its inefficiency stemming from too greater focus and reliance on primary care resulting in delays where prompt specialist attention is required. It seems that anyone attempting to question the structural fundamentals of the NHS is somehow branded a villain for simply daring to question the modern day relevance of a "cherished" but ultimately failing national institution. Gary's obsession with trying to portray "The Tories" as evil clearly has no bounds. Our NHS shortcomings of the last 20+ years are consistent and really have as much to do with both political incumbents for failing to make structural change. Adjusted for inflation then real expenditure on the NHS has continued to rise albeit at a slower rate post 2010. How much more do we chuck in to get it to France levels of service? French expenditure per head is another approx £300 pa v UK. I think if we through in quadruple that in to the current system we would still be nowehere near where we need to be to match French overall levels of service. The fact is the NHS needs to be thoroughly reviewed and major reform carried out. PFI contracts (Blair), non medical professional "management", private contractors etc. are always quoted as the real problem but in truth there are deeper institutional failings and a strong resistance to any change within much of the medical profession itself. I feel in the UK we are made to feel ungrateful and almost blasphemous if we dare criticise the fundamentals of the organisation - until we (UK) come to terms with this no money will make things better. Any party that continues to ignore this will be failing us. Gary - does this make me a facist spiv?
  4. Gary - can you please comment on the above "data", youve had over 24 hours to consider ............
  5. The number of infection cases that are almost totally asymptomatic may yet turn out to be a massive proportion of the total. There seems to be a rapidly emerging body of opinion within the qualified scientific community that there is a very high probability of this being a critical feature of this pandemic. Without extensive testing of even defined local population sets then there just isnt the data to support robust modelling at this stage. This really could go in any direction and the uncertainty is the scary part ...............
  6. What broader point are you trying to make Gary other than repeating the fact that you "hate the Tories" ? The most recent WHO data reports that Italy spends approximately £500 pa per head less on healthcare than the UK AND a lower total annual expenditre figure in terms of % of national GDP (approx 8.9 v 9.8) ............................................. ?????
  7. You make the point very well Gary that for the reasons you mention it doesnt follow that either China's or Italy's actions in regard to managing the crisis are necessary the right ones for the UK ..........
  8. Did he actually say the "government wants" ??????
  9. Not good places to be for sure but given rapid rate of cabin air replacement and superfine filtration then probably safer than tightly packed London tube train? Just waiting for David Icke to pop up soon!
  10. I'd have some concerns regarding the reliability of the database matching up process between personal details and test result!
  11. From a political point of view there are real dangers in witholding the release of data with the deliberate intent of attempting to grossly understate the extent of infection. I just dont believe that it would be possible for the government not to be found out very quickly if this were the case. The consequences would be political suicide. I really do think most people understand that the total numbers of confirmed (by test) cases being reported each day are a drop in the ocean compared with realtime total numbers infected. The government is in a no win situation here. It could (and may be will in the next few days) finally reach the point where all the evidence with which it is provided rules out the prospect of avoiding massive rates of infection without imposing serious "lockdown" actions. This really is the zero option and of course iany such actions will inevitably have massive and fairly immediate and irreversible economic impact. These are huge decisions for any government to take. The consequences both short and long term of any such action would invariably have greatest negative (economic) consequences for lower skilled members of the workforce many of whom will be fearing years of poverty more than a 1% risk of death. My point is that it is very easy to judge in this situation - I dont envy being PM!
  12. Isn't this stunning - I know they have a bit of a reputation for being rather expensive to run but I would much prefer a 3200 to a 4200. Great value, got me looking now! https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/maserati/3200/immaculate-condition-impeccably-maintained/10438666
  13. I like 2002s as well but the prices seem ridiculous for what they are - heading in the Alfa Guilia 105 direction. Both good drivers cars but not remarkable or special enough in my mind to command current asking prices.
  14. Love these - relatively good value too
  15. Here is something different ............ https://www.fast-classics.com/cars/alfa-romeo-s-z-2-for-sale/
  16. Wish I had booked now! Weather looks good for today, hope everyone has a great day - take it easy!
  17. If 5% is perfectly OK then I doubt that 10% is a disaster. Suspect that the truth is that 5% ethanol content isn't ideal and that situation progressively worsens as content increases. I've noticed the carburettor barrells on my Lancia progressively turn from a shiny smooth finish to a dull almost mat grey finish over the last 6 years or so. Main issue is moisture absorbtion by alcohol from air within fuel tank and generally the very mildly corrosive properties of ethanol, i.e. risk to fuel tank and system corroding when car is left standing for any period of time + general attack of soft metals and less chemically resistant rubber and plastic materials used in older fuel systems. I think modest additive treatment should help alleviate much of the risk (Ive never tried these) but .................????
  18. Yes, obviously now any old stock very scarce - posted link just to make the point that this same Bosch part originally found its way into a number of different vehicles during the period. I'd be very surprised if the items in Nige's original Volvo link were not Bosch original spec items - vendor probably just not switched onto the fact that residual 11 showing in stock at £130 might be worth quite a lot more if pitched as Porsche 911/928 spec items.
  19. https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/bosch-671335.htm Would seem to be for any Douvrin based V6 from late 80s to mid 90s ..........l
  20. On the basis that the excerpt from the Bosch Parts Manual posted previously quoting Bosch part ref 0280 160 215 is correct which incidentally matches the part quoted in the Pelican link then I have quickly found numerous links quoting that number against PSA/Volvo/Renault ESL units - search and ye shall find!!!! £250 is a lot of money for a Porsche Box!
  21. The Volvo part that Nige shows a link to is the same Bosch item - only difference is price.
  22. Ridiculous pricing strikes again! Ive just searched and Ive found several places that show all various part references that include this Volvo item against matching Porsche number - looks like same part on 928? I'd buy them all up at £100 and sell them on ...............
  23. From a warm idle only point of view then I really cant see that this AFR level by itself is anything to worry about - instinctively I would have thought something nearer to 14 or just below (14.0 / 13.8). Stating the obvious then of course of more real importance is that the various controls (WUR / Pressure Reg / Air Meter etc..) are all working as they should to ensure that mixture adjusts correctly as engine speed and load change. Will your gauge respond fast enough and show reading during driving at different load situations? If I had a 930 and wanted to be sure that things were running correctly then I would probably invest in a session on a rolling road with someone familiar with what should be expected
