2nds (or 3rds!) on the floorboards if you can post Simon

No other horrors yet. Ive actually had it years but these speakers never worked. Its only with a new hifi fitment that I had a look at them

Ive replaced all the fuses. I foolishly didnt disconnect the battery. The immobiliers / alarm beeps and unlocks the doors and allows turnover but I cant hear the fuel pump nor can I smell unburnt fuel on turnover - could I have fried the pump or ECU?
-
My 88 3.2 wont start. Almost certalnly due to my own incompetence… I replaced an old and none functioning power amp under the drivers seat. To check where the live feed was from I removed and replaced each fuse in turn. As it turns out it was fed from a none fused supply direct from the battery ( which I will rectify in due course). When I was finished the car would turn over but not start. I replaced the DME relay just in case but no joy. I feel sure it must be something simple ive neglected to do but I cant think what. Any ideas? Thanks

Can I have the rear sections behind the front bonnet? Simon

Im hoping someone reading this thread will have one in their shed! Gonna ring round some breakers today. I suspect it could be welded ok though ( not by me!) Either way its all got to come off so it looks like a front suspension refresh.
-
Yes. On the far left is the D shaped aperture for the Tbar and mechanism to fit in . Immediatley to the right of this is a hole through the horizontal part of the casting. This is where the anti roll bar mounting sits on top and bolts through. This section has broken off - the hole and surrounding material

New one £300 plus vat. Ouch!
-
I will try tommorow. If you imagine where the Anti Roll bar bracket sits on top and bolts through - this section has broken off - a piece 4 cm long surrounding the hole
-
Took the guard off the front today to paint it and have a look underneath and alarmed to discover a piece broken off the the front crossmember where the a/r bar mounts. Its clear there is some sort of corrosion here where steel and ally meet and water is trapped. I havent got a price for a new one yet but suspected it will be shocking. I wonder if it can be welded?

Im about to service my 3.2 - perhaps you can point me in the right direction Oil - I cant be the only one whos gone round in circles with this. Mine always had Mobil 1 15/50 in the past so I just kept using that and didnt need to form an opinion. Its now discontinued so what should I use: cheap / expensive fuchs? Something else? Oil return tubes - The two drivers side ones are weeping - can these definately be done without taking off the heat exchangers (I darent!) whats the best source for the tubes? Valve Clearances - i did this last time using the backside method ( which seemed to take ages!) but would consider the Frost? click ? tool if this is significantly easier - anyone used one of these? Also do you always need new rocker gaskets? Gearbox Oil - G50 box any particular oil reccomendations I need a few bits also : oil pipes and hood struts - wheres best to get these? All thoughts much appreciated Simon

Ocasionally, but increasingly frequently I'm having problems with the car. It will start and drive normally but then cease to pull and be undriveable with no power at all. Unplugging the idle position switch, and leaving it off cures this and it then runs fine. I presume the microswitch is sticking on - Does this just control the idle control valve in which case could this be at fault? I've considered removing the IPS and cleaning it but I haven't because A it looks tricky to get off and B I presume its position when put back on is critical. Anybody had something similar? Any thoughts? Simon ps its an 88 3.2

Thanks.. I wonder if you could expand a little - where is the metal plate bolted? Inside the door? Do I need to take the glass and mechanism out? Simon
