  1. I've joined the Cayman Crew. Sold the 3.2 Targa. Hunted around for a bit and ended up with this 987. No complaints so far.
  2. Now SOLD! Many thanks for the enquiries. I bought this car in June 2006 and have used it intermittently during the following 13 years, as I have spent at least 7 of those years working away from home. It’s never been used as a daily driver and has generally not been used in winter or on wet days. It has always been garaged and at one stage was put into storage when we were between houses. Gearbox I suffered a gearbox failure shortly after buying the car in 2006. So, it went to Matt at Autowerke in Norwich for repair. It was too far gone for repair, so Matt sourced a used replacement, reconditioned the necessary parts and installed it. The invoice indicates that this was done at 80,783 miles. Body work The good news is that on this car the sills, kidney bowls and B posts have been fixed. I took it to Sportwagen in Essex in 2010 and they cut everything away on both sides, replaced it with good metal, replaced the kidney bowls and put it all back together. As they were doing so, they took photos and kept a record of the time spent on the various parts of the work. This is all available for you to see. The sill covers are not fitted to the car. I removed these before it went to for the sill/B post work and when the car came back I liked the way it looked. So, I have not replaced them. This also has the added advantage of removing one more place where road dirt and moisture can gather. The covers are with the car, as are the rubber trims that go with them. Have look at the pics. The rear wheels have spacers fitted. This brings them out a little wider to fill the wheel arches a bit more. The targa top was recovered with mohair in 2012. The car is up for £32,000. Further details and more pictures are available here.
  3. Hi DLK, Can't help with the signal test but I would have thought the specialist you used would be able to tell you. And can you share the name of the specialist, please, as I have to get my speedo rebuilt. Steve
  4. I had the same problem with my modern BMW. The problem is that voiding the tank using the pump doesn't work because the filter, glued up with crud, is at the bottom. What I did, with no guarantee that it will work for you, is as follows 1) fill the washer reservoir with HOT water 2) you need a length of tubing (Halfords) to push as far down into the reservoir as you can, from the filler cap, to siphon the reservoir empty from above. Suck, don't swallow. 3) to help you siphon out the crud along with the water you have just put in there, you need to ensure that the crud is in suspension rather than just clogging the filter so, 4) you need to detach one of the tubes at the windscreen end of the system and blow into that to disturb the crud clogging the filter 5) repeat until clear I had to do this 4 or 5 times to get it to run clear. Moral: avoid using washing up liquid in your washers
  5. Depends whereabouts in Wilts you are, I have found Steve Bull in Devizes very helpful. http://www.stevebullspecialistcars.co.uk
  6. Can you give us a contact for this please.
  7. Corrected my own list and thought I'd add my "lust list" National steel Rickenbacker 12 string Fender Tele PRS And that's without going into the more specialist individual makers.
  8. Oooh! Goody! Washburn Les Paul (It's pink but don't tell any one) Yamaha arch top AEX 1500 Martin Taylor model Gretsch Synchromatic arch top Squire Stratocaster Eko 6 jumbo acoustic Fender 5 string Jazz Bass Hohner 4 string Steinberger style bass Ibanez 4 string bass Gibson EB2 bass - defretted Yamaha electro acoustic AX model I think With the exception of the Gretsch and the Eko, they have all earned their keep. The Eko was bought in the place of an US spec Triumph Bonnevile. I had just about concluded the deal on that (coming up for 40 years ago!) and went home to tell my wife and she announced she was pregnant. So, that kncked the bike on the head. The guitar was my consolation prize, and my son was the real prize!
  9. I bought a cheap pair from Maplin, just to see if they did what they were supposed to. They did, so I gave those to my daughter and bought a pair of AKG ones at just over £200, mostly for use on long-haul flights and they are brilliant for that. Not sure I'd want to wear them while driving though.
  10. You could try this to give you an idea
  11. Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. Isn't this a bit like "I don't read the Sun/Times/Mirror"? And why is it an issue? All in jest, sort of!
  12. So, is this magic? And can we all play?
  13. It's always been 3/4 of the red line in my experience. Don't think they'd buy a "I'm not going to go fast on the track"
  14. You can download a decibel meter for an iPhone for free, which would help give you some idea of where you are in relation to the limits, which are different from track to track. Mine is bog standard and I have never had any problems with a 105 limit.
  15. Seen at about 1300 on Saturday (or was it Sunday) on the road into Ardingley (Sussex) past the college.
  16. Is that like the Mercedes test? I have a 944, I am 5' 11' and struggle to sit upright with a helmet on. But I do have shortish legs and a long body. But they are bloody great track cars. Not that fast but really well balanced.
  17. Don't you just love it. Pink piano stool threads now rank alongside oil threads!
  18. I cycle past this place 2 or 3 times a week and have never seen any evidence of automotive action in or around the area! Curious.
  19. season ticket to Brans or Snetterton?
  20. I used this guy to do my targa roof. Based in Hethersett just outside Norwich. Seems OK to me. http://cartrim.webs.com
  21. A certain amount of "thread drift" going on here :mad jg:
  22. A Morris Marina is better looking than that!
  23. Drivers falling asleep at the wheel, as ours did a couple of years ago!
  24. Wouldn't work over here tho! Positively dangerous
