Spotted earlier this week just outside Wilmslow on the A538 (by the Honey Bee pub). I was going the other way in a blue 996 (I'm an IB splitter)

Hi Will / All, Nige is taking them. If this changes for any reason, I will give you a shout. Thanks John

Hi, Having a loft clear out. To go is the polished aluminium windscreen and rear screen trim that I bought (used off ebay) with the intention of fitting to my SC (now sold). I understand it came from an earlier car (not sure which) but fits IB's. It's in good condition. I'm after £45. If you're interested, or have any queries, please let me know. Otherwise it's back on ebay. Happy to send photos. Cheers John

Yeah, might be worth thinking about actually. I'm certainly not going to sell if for £7k if that is all the market dictates! Cheers

Thanks for all the comments guys. Whether to sell or not depends on whether I accept the job offer. Rightly or wrongly, one of the main factors against in the decision making balance is having to sell the car!! limegreen74, I'll be in touch if I take the plunge and sell. Thanks again John

Hi all, Aftre 4 years of IB ownership, I may have to sell the SC. Would be a reluctant sale but I am close to accepting a new job that requires more of a commute which I wouldn't want to do all year round in the SC. Unfortunately I am unable to justify keeping it solely as a sunny weekend toy. I know it's difficult to comment without seeing it but, any indications on value would be appreciated. It's a black 1979 coupe (180) with 145,000 on the clock. The engine is great (top end rebuild done last year by John Holland at Unit 11) and mechanicals generally sound. it has new ss heat exchangers. But...it needs bodywork. In particular, both kidney bowls are holed so need doing (although its never been picked up on the MOT, which it recently passed with no advisories). The rest of it, including sills, is ok. I would be reluctant to take less than £10k for it. Am I being unrealistic? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks John

Spoke too soon. Matt at type911 has just confirmed that all his flag bases are 944/928 type. I guess this means I'm still in the market for a base. I will stick a post in the 'wants' section. Thanks all John

Cheers. Spoke to Type911 so should be sorted thanks.

Hi, Came back to my car to find that someone had knocked the drivers side flag mirror on my SC - it was left dangling by the electrical wires. The mirror is still pretty much intact surprisingly but one of the two downward facing anchor spikes (not sure what else to call them!) has snapped. Cant believe it hasnt damaged the door! The question is, do I need to replace the whole thing or is it possible to buy the base separately? Any help appreciated! Thanks John

Agree it's a lovely colour. My vote is for without the tail (although as other have said, it hardly looks bad with it!)
-
I agree with R2D2, they look good (ace even) on 924's but just not quite right on IB's
-
Ha ha. In a similar vein, my mate has had a 60's SL 'for sale' for 5 years. Not actually advertised as such though.
-
Ha ha - glad it's not just me - it took me over a year to work it out.

Cheers All, Very helpful. Job for the weekend.
