Congrats Andy! :ani_clapping:

pub some 20 mile away towards Cirecenster

Where are you based? - I'm in Cheltenham.

See the occasional IB around here. STill recall the day when I was driving out of Cirencester with another IB coming towards me. Was an attractive woman driving - and she waved first! Didn't think there were any female IB lovers.

Theres a couple of IB's around the Swindon area too, including me

Would be good to arrange a meet at a suitable location.....?

I remember driving out of the forecourt in Germany in my very own SC 5 years ago - what a moment. It was pouring with rain so I didn't try anything too adveturous - the rain got worse, I tried the stereo - 'Riders on the Storm' came on - the previous owner (a doctor) had left a bootleg copy in it :). The next day the weather was great and the autobahn opened up empty in front of me. I backed off after a brief spell at 140 mph - it felt like it would have gone a bit faster still but it was rather noisy (wind was pushing the wipers up the window) and stuff was going past the window pretty fast.

Spent the night in a lovely hotel, Cathy found out she was pregnant. After dinner on night she caught me staring out of the window. She asked me what I was thinking (expecting some answer about how exciting our lives were going to be etc.) "I was just thinking how lovely my car looks in the moonlight", came the reply - oops.

Told my Gran the good news about the baby and took her to the Chinese restaurant - she was pretty excited - though probably more about the baby than the ride in a Porsche. Shame Grandad couldn't have seen it - he took pictures of the Auto Unions on their first outing at the Avus track.

What a trip. There was a huge downer though. Got back to my parents bursting with excitement and big news, only to find them all staring at the telly. It was September the 11th.

I'm NE of Bristol so a meeting in the nice countryside could be possible. Ian C may come along too if it aint raining! Anyone know of any weekend dates with something happening around the area where we could meet up and highjack the event carpark? Maybe even a Sunday lunch at nice country pub?

great news - sorry I did not get in touch, not been around for the best part of a month. I'd definitely meet up if it was east of Bristol and have a quick letch at the rather special baby!!

It'd be great if we could get some sort of regular West Country Ace Cafe type night going. There's a nice country pub that attracts a lot of classics near us on the Mendips, with a big car park - but it'd probably be better in the town. Any ideas for a venue?

Definitely up for that, Andy lives close to me in Bristol so anywhere in between Cheltenham/Swindon/Bristol?

I'm up for a meet - when/where?

Gents,

Lets make a suggestion - Sunday morning drive then pub lunch in Cheddar - if weather is nice we could get some great shots around that scenery? Speaking with Ian C the first potential date is Sun 15 Oct. Anyone know a good location in Chedder to park the cars and nice food?

Let me know if you fancy that and I will make up some suggested meeting places and times.

I'm doing a dry-stone walling course that weekend - rock n' roll lifestyle eh? Still, I'd love to join you one day.

The Swan Inn in Rowberrow is very good for food and parking and about 5 mins from Cheddar. As you pass the Churchill lights on the A38 the road goes uphill and becomes a bit woody and winding with a cliff on your right. As the road bends right you'll see a small turning on your left (either Rowberrow or the pub is sign posted). Follow that for a little way and you'll see the pub on your left - car park opposite.

If you're on the A38 and you get as far as the Shipham turning you've gone too far.

Another nice pub is the Crown in Churchill - the owner raced his Austin Healey at the Le Mans Classic. It's not so good for parking though. Here's a page with a bit of info on both...

Ian C and I are still planning an outing this Sunday :steering: - have not worked out any route yet but it will most likely be to Cheddar - unless the IB boys in the SW region vote for a different venue? Most likely we will set a meeting place for lunch and let you decide if you can make it. More to follow this week but probably earlyish start Sunday, meet for lunch, talk about IBs, laugh at my rust, take pics, do lunch then blast through the country side and home in time for tea and medals!!

Thanks for the links Stefan - good luck with the bricks.

Wish I was joining you. I'll try to get to the next one. Hope it goes well and you're lucky with the weather. Does anyone want to pm me a mobile number in case I get off early?

Cheddar is a reasonable drive south for me - would prefer soemthing perhaps a little more north!

Not sure of my instructions for this coming w/e but could be up for this meet. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

We are not tied to Cheddar and if no-one south here is interested we could always head a bit north of here, what about the Forest of Dean/Ross on Wye? Lots of options and the key thing is to get as many out as possible. What do you say Chris, Andy, Anil etc?

North, north west, east are all good for me I have no other plans for Sunday - will have to disconnect those new heater hoses I fitted this weekend, I was melting in the car today (diagnosis from Northway is that valves in flapper boxes are stuck open - will post new thread on that).

Come on boys lets have a thrash this weekend. :steering:

Thought we'd figured this out already?????? But have you checked the connections in the control box between the seats yet?

yea - blokky at Ray's poked fingers into control box via handbrake gator and said cables are connected - may need adjusted but his bet is valves knackered open? Will post new thread along with results of the bodywork jury round the corner from Ray's and you can call me tomorrow for a laugh......

Ian, Andy

I'm definitely interested in joining you guys for a drive (Cheddar or Ross are both good for me...) but unfortunately I may have a prior engagement booked for Sunday.

If I can make it, I'll let you know one way or the other by Saturday.

Cheers

Anil
