Idle Control Valve

Recommended Posts

Just cleaned my Idle Control Valve - was a bit dirty inside, but all cleaned up now! (wonder if it is worth taking off the two rubber tubes, above and below the ICV, and cleaning them out aswell?)

how much should the valve be moving about?

the 'piston' thing inside the main chamber seemed to move a few mm at most, but it was moving freely, - and the other piece seemed to rotate freely enough.

from other descriptions it sounds like it should be moving loads - so how much is correct?

thanks

have you an issue with idle? , took my valve apart cos revs stuck at 2k for an age before dropping to idle , cleaned rust off armature which was fouling on outer bit and cured it , has quite a pulse when it operates IIRC , didnt bother with anything else as my issue was fixed..p.s I'm not "in the know"
