I guess its no secret, that I have had a little itch that needed scratching for some time now and most everything on my car build over the last couple of years has been heading towards a new look. So I have finally gone ahead and done it and gone wide. I had intended to share a few more photos - and there will be plenty to come + all the details - but a small health and safety incident got in the way of that.

Yesterday was not a total wash out, I got the old front tyres on the correct wheels and picked up the last little bits from the OPC. Here I am being ignored at the OPC, even though I parked in the very middle, right outside the door. Seems polishing a new diesel Cayenne is much more interesting.

These 2 sales types just walked straight past without batting an eyelid.

Then off to Autoglass to get them to remedy the poorly fitted screen - it has a gap in the seal top RH corner where water will just pour in. Short story is another new screen and seal arriving next week in case they break this one (new) refitting it.

Many, many things to tell you all and lots of build photos to extract off a camera in Bradford but this is a start (really the end rather than the beginning). Huge thanks all the people who have helped in big and small ways - OJT, Andy Perks, Tripe, Jevvy, Hamish and over the years, all the guys at JAZ. The guys who take biggest credit though are Andy and Paul Mudd, who have done a super job on budget and on time, not without challenges. Getting this done from 300 miles away has not been easy but I trusted Andy and Paul and they have repaid that trust many times over. Top blokes.

Very nice!

What sized wheels did you go for?

Surprised you kept the cup mirrors if I'm honest....

That looks great RB. I love the RSR wing. I do have to agree with Shirish though, different mirrors would look more in-keeping IMHO.

What's happening with the engine? any plans to back up the wideboy stance with a turbo/super charger?

I want to hear this thing. I'm toying with going for the same exhaust as you and want to know what this thing sounds like - pull your finger out and shoot some video ;)

They are 8/9x16 with 225/45 and 245/45. Cup mirrors will probably get ditched but there is plenty of time for that.

Very nice RB, she's aching for a few stickers!

Looks like Tonbridge OPC from the photos. Say no more.

Indeed it is. Can't decide what graphics yet so I will not rush into it.

Its definitely not going forced induction. It makes north of 260hp anyway and its light so its not slow. I have plans for the next 15-20hp and I think regearing would be the next big project if I am still not happy.

Looks dappa mate, gona have to book Snett now so I can see the real thing.

Hope the ankle isnt too bad - I freakin hate angle grinders but as Nige says they are a necessary evil.

What you got RB, I can't see your pictures here at work, very frustrating sometimes.

Its just pictures a of one of those Audi TT replicas based on Metro chassis. Looks wicked though.

very nice indeedy. reminds me of an 911 & porscheworld article with a rebuilt 1974, same colour with gold centres and gold carrera decals, thought that was tres sexy.

Just to point out the bleedin obvious, the build has one or two little "surprise & delight" features. The kind of stuff that now puts it firmly into the hot rod category.

Eagle eyed among you will see no fuel filler (and skinny front wheels).

Tank.jpg

I am really pleased with it. The parts come from Andy Hornby at R to RSR. The surprising thing is that its just a gaping hole into the tank - nobody light a match when filling up with gas, watch out for the French pump attendants :)

Other eagle eyed among you will see there is no sunroof anymore.

Lots more details on how that was done to follow.

I quite like this car as a graphics idea but still going to wait and see.

Basically red IROC body with 9 and 11 inch flares:)

WOW - fair play, I didn't notice those at all.

Am I being a divvy or do you have to earth the petrol pump/the car to stop any static sparks making the whole thing go up?

Posted

Andy Hornby said its fine as is after seeing the pics - but I don't know about earthing and sparks. All I know is its got the breather in the cap so its a tres neat and tidy install and ditches the pipe, tube, filler neck, breather tank and filler stuff. And it was pretty cheap.

And its had 2 tanks of gas already and has not gone bang yet!

ahh been waiting for these pics ,it looks fantastic the paint looks deep and professional.I am glad you didnt go hole in the bonnet filler ,I plan to do the same as you with the fuel tank over the winter.

Cant wait to see it inrl well done RB, wonder what it ways no with the lightweight panels

Looks great Richard, especially from the rear with your exhaust. Nice work.

I had the door locking problem after mine got all back together, and it turned out to be the sensor on the passenger side handle. I just disconnected it and the car locks now, but still needs sorting properly. Assuming you kept the central locking!

Looking forward to seeing more pics/details.

Lovely stuff. The new tank filler arrangement is no different / more or less dangerous compared to a motorbike tank really is it? Looks great, I'm not feeling the sticker thing though.

How did you go about that?

Looks tasty BTW :signs118:

Car looks fantastic.

Surely you wouldn't want to cover up that lovely shiny paint with a load of stickers?

Love those wide haunches and the twin pipes out the back  I think it would look great with some vintage era racing logos. Love the IROC look but the huge rear wing takes some getting used to with a plain paint body !
