OK I will kick it off (updated 10/6/'17).

Hi everyone, I'm John, live in South Northants with wife Sarah, our three girls (18, 15 and 12) and a Jack Russell Terrier named Ted. I currently have two IB's: one is a 1976 Carrera 3.0 Coupe which is substantially removed from factory spec. The other is a 1976 Porsche 912E roller project which I brought back from California a few years ago. I have also owned a 1980 SC (California car brought back to UK) and a 1982 SC Cabriolet (South of France via Switz via California).

Having been built up from a bare metal shell, with lots of factory lightweight parts inc ally bonnet and engine cover, magnesium gearbox with LSD and so on, the C3 weighs in at 980 kilos on an empty fuel tank. That is very light for a car with full glass and original aluminium bumpers.

Hi,

My name is Andy and i bought my SC off Dan about Octoberish last year, Went to Le Mans with him (I took my trusty old Vento) and just had to get an SC when i came back.

When Dan found his current car and offered me his, i just had to have the old girl. and have a garage built to keep her in.

I live in Stockport in Manchester about 5 mins from Dan, I live on my own and work in the Computer industry for a building society -_-

Here is my woman.

She is an 82 Swiss import in Palisander Rosewood metallic with 135,000Km under her substantial german belt. she's just been treated to new exhaust (Hayward & Scott) and Dansk sports pre silencer.

Here's my LHD 84 coupe -

Owned for eight years now. Really want a 993 but love the 3.2 too much to let go ............

Unusual spec, LSD option, no sunroof, very low on gizmos so probably quite light.

Gearbox rebuilt last year + had firmer Bilsteins fitted and suspension set for occasional track use.

Got ECU remapped recently. Went on 9M rolling road at 230 bhp (has sport back box) and came off at 252 bhp! Feels fantastic after the above mods ............

The name's Berk; Jean Berk. I got my 1989 Carrera Sport three years ago. It recently underwent a full respray. It was already Grand Prix white, but I incorporated a few slightly 'Club Sport' ish modifications. Guards red wheels, RS Ducktail and removed rear buffers.

You can see the project from the start here.

Hello all, I'm member number 30. The name is Bert Roex, I'm a Belgian living in Nottingham.

I had a few 911's but I have settled now with a Carrera 3.0 Targa.

jazi%20night%20small.jpg

That was when I picked her up in January 2005.

She is a Carrera 3.0 Targa from 1976. She was of the first 150 made and therefore is an early monniker of the model. I decided to go for a 3.0 carrera instead of the 2.7 for three reasons:

1. the body is fully galvanised and provides better protection for the daily use I have of her

2. The weight of both Carrera 2.7 and Carrera 3.0 is identical

3. By reading Paul Frere's: "the original Porsche 911", I realised that in 1976 the Carrera 3.0 offered the following benefits over the impact bumper G-model 2.7 Carrera 210 hp engine -which was also found in the cult Porsche: the Carrera 2.7 RS:

"The road test published in Auto, Motor and Sport of October 25, 1975 indicated that the lossof 10 hp in the I-series Carrera 3.0 engine compared wit it's 2.7 litre predecessor is of little consequence, maximum speed being reduced by a mere 2mph to a still very useful 146.2 mph, which all standing start acceleration figures practically identical or, if anything, on the better side of it. Flexibility however, which was already excellent with the 2.7 litre Carrera, shows a dramatic improvement, 40 to 80 kph (25 to 50 mph) in fifth gear dropping from 14.1 to 9.4 seconds, the 80 to 120 kph (50 to 70 mph) time from 12.1 to 10.4 seconds and the 120 to 160 kph (75 to 99.5 mph) time from 12.4 to 10.7 seconds."

In fact, the 930 Turbo with 3 litres is quoted to accelerate from 0-100 kph in 6.1 seconds whilst the Carrera 3.0 is quoted to do this sprint in 6.0 second flat. Naturally the moment the turbo kicks in, the C3 is left behind like nothing else.

As everyone focused in the specialised press on the Carrera 2.7 RS and the I-series Carrera 2.7, I realised I bagged myself a bargain....

I opted for the Targa because I originate form Belgium. The German, Dutch and Belgian motorway police ran 911 Targa’s and it was literally and figuratively THE car to look out for.

targa%20Rijkspolitie%202.jpg

Although I like the lines of the coupe better, I do have to admit that a targa is great to drive with the roof off, windows up. She offers great protection from the wind, children at the back find it quite bright and less claustrophobic as opposed to the coupe and they are better sheltered from the wind as opposed to a convertible. In my opinion, the only way to combine an open 911 and children is either a targa –open or close- or a convertible with the roof up and rear window zipped open!

I am currently looking for a carrera 3.0 coupe to build up as a lightweight road car/track day car. I have travelled everywhere, visited the Ebay-, pistonheads, PCGB- and autotrader adverts but there is a disappointing offer at the moment.

Nonetheless, my car has its engine being rebuild, blueprinted etc etc and will be on the road by june 2006.

Here she is with the ductail.

Take care,

Bert

Hi guys

Like most of you I spend a lot of time on the "other" porsche forums so it was really nice to find a UK active Porsche form. I thought I would drop by and say hi.

I'm in the process of evolving my '89 3.2 into something more personal.....so far it's looking pretty standard however I have fitted a 1995 3.6 :D

This is my ride. Despite appearances, this shot is actually somewhat butt-clenchingly fast thru the second part of Rivage at Spa.

Its "slightly" modified. Details to follow at a later date. I live in Kent with my better half Rachel and 2 kids Sophia and James.

ciao,

Richard

Hi all!

Just joined so will post picture of my Speedster. I live between Daventry and Rugby and have had this car since last November. Car is on H plate (1991) so could be the last 3.2 Speedster registered in UK (nice to see another black car on the forum).

I had an SC for 8 years and only sold it to make way for this.

Cheers for now,

Geoff

Having had 2 wonderful years with my 3.2 Club Sport I came to the conclusion that I was going just about as quick as the car could go round track, without major engine upgrades (to the detriment of originality) & I had become seduced by the speed, handling & I supposed most of all the stopping power of the GT3. Having driven several & been passenger on many track days in mates GT3's I started scanning the websites, noting prices & then all of a sudden "my" car was advertised on PistonHeads. The ad was placed on Friday 17th Feb - I went to see the car that day, had my mate Tim Court drive it the next day (he has effectively the same car except his is Red & RHD) & did the deal that morning. By 6:00pm that Saturday, my 3.2 CS was advertised on PH + PCGB Forum & by Tuesday the 21st it was sold.

Tweaks to the GT3 (it's a LHD MK1 Club Sport) so far include - drilled ally pedals, motorsport brake ducts / scoops, 6 point harnesses fitted & a new lighter battery (50 vs 70 KWA) - all my own work but hardly technically challenging. As I write the car is with Russell Lewis of RSR Engineering having a slightly overdue annual service + the geometry set for track days, new front discs + RS29 pads, Castrol Super Race fluid & braided lines. I have secured a 2nd set of GT3 wheels for track use & some Dunlop SSR tyres so when I get the car back, I'll be ready to go.

Hi all,

I'm Lewis and have had my SC for about 5 years now. It was always my ambition to get a 911 before I was 25, did it a year early and have never looked back. Had a few expensive bills, including a whopping £7K last year for two engine rebuilds... a long story and something that still hurts

Anyway, the second rebuild was done properly by Tuthills and now she's going great guns again.

I live in Buckingham, between Oxford and Milton Keynes, and work for myself as a web site designer (http://www.compassinc.co.uk)

Me and my SC make the annual pilgrimage to Lemans so if anyone else is going down let me know! I have some great footage from last year following a 356 across country, beautiful weather and a beautiful car being used for what it was intended. small movie 7mb Big Movie (40mb)

Here's a pic of my car:

Hello lads.

My name is David, and I am lucky enough to live just outside the Lake District.

I have just bought my first, she is a 3.2 Carrera, Granite Green; from Hollyoaks Productions.

Well still in bliss. Having listened to a lot of views on the "personalising" front, have decided to leave my modifying 'til the winter (funny that, I'm usually very headstrong!!). Most seem to think the colours will grow on me. However, I have bought a black Nardi steering wheel off Twinny.

This site looks spot-on. I look forward to asking for more advice!!!!!

Hi guys. Some nice cars pictured above.

Toronto Canada here. Yeah, I know - some wanker from the colonies, right?

I bought my one owner 1987 Cabriolet from a woman in Florida in Aug 2004. Her ex-husband leased it new in Manhattan & it was their weekend toy. She moved it to her condo in Florida but needed to sell it because the clutch was too stiff for her hip. Her loss, my gain. I self wrench the car, so it is an adventure. Enjoy!

Ian
