Sounds good, I take it that's PCGB trackdays as a 'Club'.

I've tried Heritage in the past and not got a competitive quote, mine does have lots of mods through.

Thomas trying to PM you but your inbox is full. Do you wanna have a clear out? :)

Thanks for pointing that out - I have cleared it out!

Blimey £215 with track days is V. Good - Will be knocking on that door next time. Pay more with no TD's!

Just had my renewal quote through from Henderson Taylor & it's gone up about 25% from last year

So I decided to do the usual dreaded phone round and a number of the insurers that used to quote (albeit sometimes high) wouldn't cover the car due to modifications (mainly engine).

Has anyone else found similar or are insurers clamping down on what they will insure?

I've tried a few of the ususal suspects: Heritage, Hagerty, & Footman James who all declined and I'm waiting to hear back from RH who insured the car before Henderson Taylor.

I don't know if the huge increase from Henderson Taylor is 'a sign of the times' or just the way insurance is heading but generally speaking it really gets on my t1ts when insurers dupe you in for a cheap first year and then try it on by increasing the premium by rediculous amounts when it comes to renewall time :banghead: Rant over!

+1 especially if you want to include track days as part of the package

RH are well worth a call if you're not bothered about track days and they're not scared of modifications.

I'm with RH, just renewed last week with a £10 increase from last year which including a £2k hike in agreed valuation

Mine was Adrian Flux. Don't have it in front of me but was in the region of £250 fully comp, 9 years ncb protected, 5,000 miles and an extra £15 for agreed value, which I haven't done as it's in storage.

But as documented elsewhere, i am in the older age group :o

Just about to approach my insurance company regarding an agreed valuation done by our very own JG and was wondering what modifications need to be declared. Surely mods like turbo tie rods and poly bushes which aren't standard don't need to be declared. But quite a major one is a complete new todays technology wiring harness. What about SSI's?

Pretty sure JG will provide that advice when he does the once-over... I assume he's doing it remotely

I declared all mods , bodywork changes , exhaust , chip(they wanted to know approx bhp) , seats and general interior at my last renewal , it went up £100 for the mods and another £100 for an agreed @ £24k , so £440 all in which I think is acceptable .... 5k miles yada yada etc etc RH Classic.

May up the agreed Nxt time round , JG .. need an updated valuation :)

Is that on a classic policy that excludes commuting to work with the car Paul ? That's been the sticking point for me in the past with some insurers. I've stayed with Adrian flux last 4 years as they give me 10k miles, mods and agreed value £15k, for approx £450ish. Not cheap but not expensive either.

Yes mate , on a classic policy , you've got the Toyota now for the daily chore so time for a change no?

I don't have any , I think the holy grail of agreed value and track cover is not there to be had

I think your right there,

I've had track day cover but not AV for the last couple of years but this year I might go the AV route.

Not really as i still like using the IB on decent weather days (or the motorbike), as its a nice country drive for my commute. The Toyota Rav is just for winter running in the muck.

Had a few insurers say they wouldnt mind the odd day commuting use on a classic policy but i bet they would change that tune if something happened on that 'odd day'.

ps...whats AV ?

AV = Agreed Value ;)

RH got back to me and are still not afraid of the mods so may go back with them. £360ish for 5K per year, includes AV, legal cover, breakdown (UK & European) & retained salvage rights. The only reason I switched last year is to include track days........ Then never went on any as the car was always in bits or I was too late to book!!

Most of the companies I spoke to were fine with engine mods of around 10% increase from standard.

I'm yet to find anyone who provides commuting, AV and Track day cover. Aviva's motorsport policy via Henderson Taylor is fine for commuting and Track days (5 a year) and is extremely mod friendly, it seems to make no difference what you do to your car it doesn't effect the price!

cheers Andy, might tap up Henderson then for a bit of competition with AFlux. Dont want them getting too complacent with my readies ;-)

but you can't get an agreed valuation, can you?

think that is the trade off - declare all the mods you like but if you prang it you only get back what THEY think your car is worth
