I think the AA just do European cover on per trip basis, could be wrong though.  There was a reason why I didn't go with them.

Our nationwide flex account cover is now with the AA. Europe included -MOT needed but can't see any age stipulation.

A little 'off piste' but I have a Q for any insurance experts out there.... My named driver (my wife) managed to reverse my car into a customers car at the tyre shop while it was on axle stands, which it then fell off.... CRUNCH! As she's a named driver on MY insurance, does she have to declare it as a claim on HER insurance come renewal time?

Thanks.

Unfortunately I think that’s a yes Chris - she’s had an accident

But you could make up the loss if you can post a video of it!

Sorry - bad taste comment

I have that cover with my Nationwide account too. The T& C’s are an interesting read. Whilst they don’t seem to have an age limit they do stipulate that the car has to have been serviced to manufacture schedules. Something most if not all of our cars have long since not adhered to.

Proof of the pudding is if you ever need to claim but it would be interesting to see if they try to wriggle out of a claim.

Im off to the Spa classic and the Ring next month so I’ve reinsured with Classicline ( previously with AF) as they inc European cover so in theory I’ve got 2 breakdown policies to fall back on should anything untoward ensue.

No personal experience but other car friends have had to use CL for breakdowns in EU and have had no issues.

Owch mate that sounds un-fun.

When my Mrs sent our BMW 530D into the big car park in the sky and a claim was made against her and obviously for the BMW too it was unfortunately insured in my name and it was me who took the hit on insurance premiums going forward. We both declare the incident when getting insurance but the damage to policy cost has been pretty much only on my side.

As you might imagine I remind her of this on a regular basis :rlol:

As there are likely many Classicline policy holders on here... just looking through their renewal documentation it occurred to me that they don't mention incidents involving uninsured drivers anywhere, so I sought their clarification:

"...your policy would cover the repairs but I'm afraid it would go down as a claim on your record and you would not be able to recover your excess..."

I've not renewed yet, but other options do include this as standard (or offer it as an additional element).

Had to move away from Classicline after being with them for 12 years. Their renew price was just too much and had increased considerably since last year. Now with Adrian Flux on an agreed value policy at £160 less.

Funny that: I had also tried Adrian Flux but for some unknown reason their browser quote tool was unable to provide a rate, and suggested their sister company instead.

I have no idea why, there’s nothing about my requirements that’s changed, other than me and the car are both a bit older!

I did it the phone as I already had my M3 with them. I’ve a feeling I did a compare site probably Meerkat.

I have also had to leave CL after over 10 years as found that they are not only now overpriced and not prepared to move, offer or adjust but some staff members are very unhelpful and dismissive.

I also went with CL for track and EU cover but now do less track, policy cover changed also, but more eu driving.

Anyways went with Admiral for 5 cars, saved over £1K, with separate EU cover with RAC.

How did they work 5 cars? Do they all have named drivers?

I’ve tried it over the years but with our cars have my wife on them too it didn’t make any difference.

Im afraid CL have lost the plot, and it would seem, a lot of customers from here!

I saved over a grand going with Adrian Flux Capacitor

Ahh, problem with Flux! I'd sent off my agreed value forms and they've come back and said it's only worth £58,000 where I'd asked £85,000 which is what I had at Classicline!!

Don't think they realise that it's quite rare Targa Supersport. Google AI suggests that there were only 17 RHD cars delivered to the UK.

I have to get an independent Valuer of their choice to get a valuation.

I wondered if my AV was above the Flux upper limit.

They accepted my valuation from the sheriff without any question.

At the bottom of this forum tap the ‘more’ and select Classic Car Valuation from the menu.

Opposite this year, was with Classicline for a long time until last year when the renewal almost doubled, so went with Adrian Flux.  Now just switched back to ClassicLine as Flux almost double!

Seems to be down to underwriter changes.

Eitherway back to the usual £330 ish with Euro breakdown and agreed value.

What was Classiclines renewal price which doubled? £330ish seems really cheap. They wanted £498 for my car having been around the high £300’s for years.

ClassicLine had always been around the £300 for years until 2025, it increased to £600.  So jumped to Flux in 2025 for around £330, to be met with their renewal of £580 last week.  Now back with ClassicLine for £330.

Probably end up doing the same dance around between the two next year.

I think most try it on hoping you just autorenew.

was same for me, now £478 😒 but my car is heavily modified. Kept AV at 45k as car is now over 203k miles (no idea what the value should be!)
