That's pretty much the trade off - the commuting thing aside it's either AV or track.

 

I spoke to Matthew today and he said that the reason mine had gone up so much was because I have it for the occasional commute and the mileage had automatically gone up to 6K so he reduced that back down to 4.5K and the premium came down to £500.

 

Long and the short of it - For me Henderson Taylor is £500, no AV but track or RH for £370, no track but AV. When you look at it like that £130 is pretty good for 4-5 track days cover (provided you use it) but RH is cheaper if you go for AV and they are both mod friendly.

I have the holy grail; AV and trackday cover with mods. I'm with heritage.

Never asked about commuting.

I'm with Heritage too. Can't wait to see how much the recent work and AV will make to the price. Last years renewal was £130 for 2k miles fully comp with commuting. It was that cheap I just renewed in June even though I knew the car would be off the road until about now. So will submit the valuation report, raise the miles to 5k and see what happens.

I am with CVI ,£240 a year with mileage restricted to 3K a year.Agreed value,no track days but not able to use the car to commute to work with.The premiums have not gone up much in the 3 years that I have owned it,think I get a 25% discount due to PCGB membership.

When i first built the Super Sport I struggled to find anyone that would insure.

A mate recommended Classic Line Insurance in Leicester.

All modifications were listed. Photographs sent along with a dyno plot.

5000 miles per annum, agree value policy at £50K, no track day cover.

Last year the premium was just over £500

Had the usual once a year nightmare with insurance. A.flux upped it to 510 this time!! Dropped mileage from 10k to 7.5k and that's reduced it to £490 inc euro breakdown cover.

Henderson Taylor no longer cover commuting so that's them out, likewise hagerty.

Will try RH, any others recommended, don't know how some of you guys are getting such cheap quotes with mods declared, is that low miles classic policy with no commuting?

Not much in the way of mods on mine. Quoted £250 from elephant with 5k pa mileage. Thought that was pretty good.

I renewed in Feb & HT said that commuting really bumps the policy up. Mine is far from standard, for garaged 2nd car doing 5k miles HT was around the £500 including commuting & either AV or track day cover, whereas RH was around £360 including commuting and AV but no track day cover.

 

Both very reasonable, easily the best of all the companies I spoke to & mod friendly. Most other 'specialist' insurance companies ran a mile when the mods to the engine or rather the bhp figure goes past +10% of standard car.

 

The 'perfect' policy doesn't seem to exist anymore apart from a lucky few who seem to have managed to renew old policies so it pretty much comes down to whether you want track cover or AV.

Must of the quotes quoted in this thread aren't much use as the post code will probably determine the largest chunk of the premium, surely?

Postcodes do make a difference but not as much on classic policies as standard ESP if garaged. But as usual I'm in the dearest area being sarf London.....

got it sorted at £438 in the end, reduced annual mileage to 5k on a classic policy that includes commuting and mods declared. :)

 

Dirty current mob ramped my premium up to £602 with just a couple of extra mods declared ontop of the former listed ones!, so i told them it was unacceptable and i would go elsewhere. Got a quote from RH who offered same cover at £440, phoned A.Flux to tell them to stick only to have them magically match the quote. :rant_yellow: Every fibre of me wanted to tell them to shove it for trying to swizz me out of £160 but they had already taken my money out via a direct debit so i reluctantly stayed with them for the £438 and got a refund on the difference. :wacko:

 

Need to get an independant evaluation now for the agreed value. (first 3 years they accepted photos and description of car!)

Do i go to PCGB being a member? Anyone know if JG still does them and how much for?

But you still have to fork out £70-80 for the PCGB membership.

 

I recently renewed my policy including AV so asked JG to do it & the insurance company were more than happy with his opinion.

 

I know that's the first place I will go next time it needs updating :twocents:

I was already a PCGB member Alex, only £56 annual membership for me, whether I ever reap the awards of that is debatable but have got discounts on Le Mans etc in the past.

 

With these classic policies do you have to get an agreed valuation every year?

Did you not try Henderson Taylor Mark or is Agreed Value the most important to you?

 

To note HT use Competition Car Insurance, I'l try them direct when my renewal comes up!

Well I spoke to the man on the phone last week and he said no go on commuting. He did say to try them again next year as they were looking to sort something out. You must have got lucky with the Aviva deal.

'Tis that time of the year (again!) - just taken out insurance with Brentacre. Excellent to talk to, real enthusiasts, Agreed value of £30k, 7500 miles, UK breakdown - £265.

Despite a quote of £196, not going with Flux as their Euro breakdown service last year was completely :rant_yellow::rant_yellow::rant_yellow::rant_yellow:
