Only downside is I get free membership to PCGB for the first year .... and then have to maintain my membership to be elegible for insurance

No problem Shirish, VT has a jumper you can wear around your shoulders and a good supply of polishing cloths.

My Classicline policy is limited to 5k p.a. The this years Eurotrip was slightly longer than I had expected at 3.5k miles and couple that with all the summer use I have given the car I have 400 miles left until March!

I was taking the car off the road in October to have a full glass out respray and repairs done but wanted to drive some more and take the car on a trip to Bruge in September so I called to add a thousand miles.

They couldn't up it to 6k only 7.5k and wanted £153 extra on a £240 policy!!!!!!!!!

What with the tax being up at the end of August I am just going to enjoy my last 400miles before the end of the month and take the car off the road a month early.

Anyway. Beware the hidden extras ;)

I have a supply of both (its what Costco do best :) )

Question to those using Lockton - the paperwork has just been emailed through, and I've just seen they quoted NCD even thought I didn't think Classic car policies did? Are you guys using your NCD on your policies, as mine is currently used on the Audi.

Just heard back from Francesca at Lockton - apparently I'll receive a separate NCD for the Porker alone based on 9yrs ownership and no claims in the past 5 years. This is totally separate from the NCD i have on the Audi.

Which is nice ...

Admirals online quotation came to £470 but when I rang them they said it comes up to £700 on their system for some strange reason so she needs to talk to their pricing dep to see if they can do the online quote!!! So contacted Locktons and they came back with a quote of £235 - Francesca was away so spoke to James Armour. So thanks to Sirish for the heads up.

For the record I only have 1 yr no claims bonus (no accidents but on/off policy) and 3 points (doing 35 in front of anal 30 village camera) and OX postcode.

I'm in my second year with Locktons now, so got some NCD,

Price was the same as last year, at £189 with all mods declared, breakdown and trackdays etc I can't complain really.

It's at market value at the moment so I really need to get a proper valuation done.

I did mine on an agreed value of 35k & annual mileage of 3000 - need to contact Jon, hopefully his valuation matches mine! BTW their next mileage band is 3001-5000 which would have added another 23 to my premium.

Just been on the phone to locktons , my agreed also starts with a 5 .... £330 with all the stuff declared . Francesca also mentioned that track days by goldtrack and msv will be covered on an add hock basis dependant on the cars taking part ..

surprised yours is more than mine, is yours garaged too?

I signed up today at £292 /250xs at my N2 postcode, garaged, clean license, etc.

FWIW, no need for an alarm/tracker etc (even though I have a highly effective, impossible to defeat, one fitted for any lurkers out there)

Sounds like 5 is the magic number for refurbed cars.

Sorry if I'm being thick. Just so I understand how it works. In the event of a total loss, they guarantee to pay out the full agreed value. Is that right? No quibble or haggling - they will pay out that amount once it's agreed?

How many miles Shirish? I did 5k
that could do it, mine is 3k. Was thinking BishStort was more of a war zone than East Finchley :)

I've just moved from having the Pork on an Avivia muggle multicar policy onto a Lockton policy as I've had / having a load of work done the last year (new clutch last year, top end rebuild this year, plus porsche classic nav head unit, new alarm, some cosmetic work (will likely post some piccies when I get it back!!) and prices have continued increasing. Got a valuation back from John Glynn on Monday to advise insuring for £40k.

Chatted to Francesca at Locktons and for £40k, 10k miles, stored on driveway, SG8 postcode, 11 years protected no claims (with ownership of car for 2) I've paid £476. Not too shabby, I thought, considering Avivia multicar were charging £390!

stored on driveway

Sort this out and it might help reduce the premium... :twocents:

Garage is too small for any other options unfortunately - Other option is storage but that's not convenient with it being my daily drive from about April-ish to Oct-ish :-/

Not too much difference.

Apparently the 10k miles was probably a reasonable factor. Apparently stars to climb a bit more rapidly over 5k miles.

Hello, I recently enquired with Admiral about their multi car policy for 3 cars, one of which is my 3.2. Total premium was > 30% cheaper but most surprising was the premium quoted for my 3.2 @ £88. 3000 miles, £250 excess, 3 named drivers, value to be agreed but I explain the current AV is £29k. (JG value). Sounds too good to be true, is it?

Last year Aviva did my 3.2 for about £250 for 10k miles so £88 sounds along the same lines. (My wife's TT Cab 3.2 Quattro was about £650!)

With the value increasing it's the agreed value vs market value bit that has started to concern me and suspicion that I'd get bent over by them if the worst happened and wouldn't be able to afford to replace.

Yeah! Me too! I thought it might cost a fortune with that number of miles.

Impressed with how easy it is dealing with Lockton at the moment too! Hopefully I won't need to claim or use their European breakdown and find out how good that part of their process is.

Hello All, I am about to renew my insurance ( £214 pa for 3000 miles , £150 excess, euro breakdown...) which all seems very reasonable. The policy is on an agreed value of £29,500 which was JG's valuation in August 2014. Is this valuation for insurance likely to be about right or should I get it re-valued? Many thanks Tim.

PS - the car is a 1989, Carrera Targa Sport.
