However... I'm seriously considering trading the targa on the Gulf.... I'd fit a ducktail, get rid of the orange bumpers and potentially backdate the bumpers to RSR in the same blue as the car. What do you think? Is that wise or is there a more efficient route to an RS® replica? The one thing nagging in the back of my head is that I wonder if I wouldn't prefer a white RS 2.7 replica.... The car at Malton was originally £40k in 2009, but now down to a more realistic? £20k. and I could trade my targa with them which would make it a smoother transaction. Fixed the link for you. Good to see the price finally dropped the right side of £20k IMO. I couldn't live with the Gulf colours for the road (and I'd imagine the ride won't be up to much on those rims), but looks fun for a track car. Assuming you mean backdate to 2.8RSR it's quite a big job to do properly, and you'd still have a bitsa but with a lot more invested in it and presumably 'only' a std 3.2. That 2.7RS pic is one of my faves too, someone hooning for the sheer fun of it. As a kid I remember walking the dog in fresh snow and I hearing a revving engine approaching round the corner. An IB appeared, properly sideways then turned round just past me and went back for another go and I wanted one from that moment on. I'd probably start with: - Duck - "Carrera" decals as per your picture - Blue 2.8 RSR bumpers & long hood - Minilites/Fuchs - RSR carpet kit - Black paint for cage - Prototipo - Cobra RS seats Oops, that's probably already another £5k further down that road of no return ps. it's funny how certain things make such an impression on you, I totally recognize your "porsche drifting around the corner" story and I have a similar one for my first car. An Alfa Giulia overtook my dad & me on a regularity rally at (at that time) unbelievable pace. I just had to have one after that and it was my first car when I was 21. Wrong offset for 964 onwards cars but maybe a hot 930 owner needing lots of rubber would bite. If it was me, I would probably do the long hood conversion last - the right wheels (how about gold campags?), blue sprayed bumpers and side script and you have a decent thing to drive for a while. craig winter Posted December 17, 2011 Share Posted December 17, 2011 When I dropped in on mark he was trying to sell me the car (back when it was £35k!) & said it came with a choice of the bbs rims or Fuchs. Externally I don't mind the colour,as long as the bumpers were changed to blue, I'm sure they'd put a ducktail on it as well as they could sell the rsr one. I'm in the market for an SC or 3.2 however I cant get out of Cumbria to view due to a work call-out restriction. Went to give Mr Winter a call yesterday re his SC and found it had already sold! I see what your saying, but a company like Malton who (reading between the lines on their website at least) portray that they deal in high level stock and therefore want the high level clientele that go with it, on this occasion seemed to have thought of a figure, doubled it and then added some more. Fine if you have come across the site, really want one and pay there and then. Somebody like me who browses the net for the next car over weeks and months would be slightly peeved to say the least. Ok drop 5K and put it down to maybe market conditions ........ but 25? If it was a 250K car, 10% would be fine .... not on this one though.
