So do you have to change the headers at the same time as the silencer ?

And is it loud being a race setup ? Will you need to change the silencer come mot time ?

Did you go for 1 1/2" headers and how did they fit ? Any probs ?

Have to say I dropped a note to Magnus Walker on his blog about his silencers but when I searched Dansk it seemed like with our cars we are stuck with just standard looking exhausts.

Did it all fit up okay or did you need to do work on the rear apron ?

I have to say I bloody love your car.

Yes, headers are effectively backdating the exhaust but with no heat so needs a 2in 2 out silencer.

Yes, it's loud, but not megaphone loud. Doubt it will be an issue at my local MoT place that does road-race cars, lambos and the like.

I went for the middle size header - 42mm IIRC.

Engine builder fitted it. 'Needed a bit of a hammer'.

Plenty of choice if you backdate the exhaust.

Rear apron gone, as you can see in the pix.

Thanks.

Oh, and no heat exchangers ???

Nah. Not using it with salt on the roads and warm enough with the roof up and a coat on at 4-6 C recently.

Oh.....and how the hell do you get that Rose Passion site to work ???

You choose your car from the menu then use a liberal interpretation of some of the google.tr Franglais...

Can you run such a porn exhaust with standard headers and hear exchangers ? I like to be warm ;-)

And what sort of a PITA was the plastic deck lid to fit ?

Not SC headers. Will fit SSIs or (non-stainless) pre-74 headers. Heat can be fitted to race headers e.g. Turbo Thomas.

Lid swap is easy - 6 bolts including the latch. 2 more if you want the underbonnet light.

Hi Ben. Posted my plans earlier but the editor screwed the post up.

Black lids like this -

And the backdate rear, IROC front that I've seen on a rally car or two and Green Meanie on Pelican (only without this badly fitted smile)-

Nah, I won't hate it, I'm not that hung up, especially if it looks like that ! I love the fact that you are doing a cab like that though, very cool. I haven't seen many backdated cabs or targas for obvious reasons I guess ! Love it though, that colour combo looks so cool. Wonder if my Brick Red targa would look as good sans whale tail aver matt black plastic lid ???

Good one mate, its terrific. I do need my heat though, so I'll have to work out another route to cool !!!

Bumper shocks now off - memo to self (and others) - keep them attached to the bumper to undo the end bolt as they will rotate otherwise.

Rear panel spot welds drilled - hoepfully all of them. Lightboxes removed (had to drill out both bolts on Right).

Total weight off = 123.56Kg.

Weight of replacement parts back on = 58.37Kg (with the GRP rear bumper)

Net loss = 65.19Kg

Then the front bumper to do and a battery change...

Bloody love that Explorer David ! Love the way the shakes in the timber look like lightning !

Where did you get the ducktail for that grey 911 ? I can imagine that they differ massively in quality and finally how did you find the M&K 1-1 stainless silencer, I'm considering one, fruity but not too loud ??

My old threads on that car have been deleted. Pro9 ducktail. Poor fit. Male fittings when should be female, etc.

M&K ordered direct. Great sound, very lightweight. 'Loud' depends on your viewpoint. I got on 105dB trackdays.

Explorer wood you refer to was spalted london Plane :ani_nerd:

Rubbery bits are on their way from Matt @ Type911 for the rear end, plus ludicrously expensive reflectors (expensive from everyone, it seems).

I'm eventually going for a full rebush and uprated shocks +/- ARBs +/- TBs but need to get all the weight out first (to avoid doing the suspension set up twice) so need to change the front end bodywork as well. EB's 911R wings are seriously tempting, with a steel bonnet to keep some weight on the front for weight transfer under braking, but yet more wonga. and more work. and paint. Ho hum. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks, sir. Spraying okay; prepping grp not my strong point... it remains a 10 yard car. I'll get it done properly when I get the metalwork repairs done in the future. It's not a concourse car and that suits me!
