One minor error - the pistons weren't at 20 degrees, more like 30-35. They're a bit of a so and so to rotate when fully recessed and the seals are new and tight. If you use CCW perhaps best to tell them that they need to be at 20 degrees.

Just spoke to Classic Car Automotive and apparently they won't touch 'modern stuff' like my Boxster calipers so I guess I'll phone Big Red unless anyone has another suggestion?

Lee did my complete set of 930 brakes. they had been on the shelf for 20 years.

1800 for everything, took a while too. I have no idea what was done , but probably some expensive parts?

brilliant result though.

A couple of comments...

1. Porsche / Brembo seals and pistons are crazy money nowadays, most refurb places quote + seals and if you need many seals the cost can skyrocket (8 seals per caliper)
2. Some refurb places have stopped doing the porsche / brembo alloy calipers so make sure you call ahead
3. Are you sure they are 944 calipers? this can be checked by measuring piston head size so no need to remove pistons (I have these details)
4. Have you taken a photo of the kippered bleed nipple recess?
5. A good used set might be cheaper than a refurb (also check new prices)

Try Brakes International Rochdale - well established and as good as anyone for sourcing just about anything brake wise; also have expertise to refurb to a high standard at sensible rates.  Have used them several times in past for both Porsche and Lancia stuff.

Think they're 944 Turbo/968 Callipers @jevvy. Photo help?

Photo of my ham fisted effort of drilling out/releasing the nipple. Think its going to need a machine shop to drill it, taper the bottom and helicoil or over size it. But not sure.

Having a nightmare removing the actual calliper. One of the torx head bolts has rounded despite heat, penetrating spray etc. Trying to weld on a nut but it jut won't take. Have a welder mate lined up to come and get a decent weld on it but he's tied up for a couple of days. I'll keep trying. Any welding tips? I've dremelled all the surfaces bright, using a mig on a lowish setting and a relatively slow feed. What a job. "you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" lol

944, 968, 928 and 964 all use the same caliper castings - its just the piston sizes are different. Only way to tell is to measure piston sizes.

The actual piston diameter is hard to check without popping the piston out so you can use the table below to determine piston size by either measuring dust boot diameter or piston inner hole diameter:

Piston Size
(mm)
Piston Inner Diameter
(mm)
Dust Boot Diameter
(mm)
26 11.7 36
28 13.45 38
30 15.2 40
32 16.95 42
34 18.7 44
36 20.45 46
38 22.2 48
40 23.95 50
42 25.7 52
44 27.45 54
46 29.3 56
48 30.95 58

Can you get a set of mole grips on that stuck mounting bolt? What about whacking in the next size up (modified) bit? You probably need a (chunky) impact driver to break it free. You can also try cutting a notch in it and trying to drive it round with a chisel. Then finally if all else fails cut the head off!

Looks like the bolt is going through an adaptor instead of the normal porsche caliper mounting lugs so you might be able to unbolt the caliper from the adaptor instead and give you more room to deal with the stuck bolt?

Normal caliper mounts:

Your caliper mounts look like this:

Are 968 Calipers the same as used on the 944 Turbo? S2

Looks like you have modified calipers so you cant simply buy some used ones and use them without machining so your goal should be to restore the ones you have for now.

You can see the adaptor to caliper bolt head just below (5 o'clock) the rounded bolt in this pic:

*on saying that the kippered bleed nipple is on the outer half of the caliper so you could bey a used caliper and just use the outer half of it to repair your kippered bleed nipple ;)

Similar to my ‘modified by Rex’ ones fitted to the Boostmobile. So as Jevvy said, refurbing what you have is likely the best option.
