THE UNOBTANIATE | Porsche News Bits Brought To You By Unobtanium Inc

"Also making its debut is the new Porsche Classic motor oil in 20W-50 and 10W-60 versions; together with the Porsche Development Centre, it was specially developed for air-cooled flat engines, and it offers optimal protection against wear and corrosion. Naturally, it is “Made in Germany.” Starting in mid-April, Porsche Classic motor oil will be available at all global Porsche Centres."

For the first time I consider buying motor oil based on cool looking container :)

Ahhhh, at long last all our problems are over and all those silly oil threads can be archived as the answer is right there :D

That is going to be so trumpy to do an oil change if it only comes in 1 litre cans! I reckon £14.99 a pop, I'll find out and let you know. Mind you, as Suckho says, got to have at least one litre for show!

I had to buy comma sae30 classic motor oil for the rebuild (new cams specified it) and it came in those same cool old cans. They are now part of the retro garage paraphanelia :)

Typical, the porsche name adds £££££ to the price, they must think are are mugs,i know what i will still be putting in mine, enough said.

Its just over a tenner for a litre and just over forty quid for 5 litres (20W/50)

Something along the lines of "My molecules are better than your molecules, my DNA said so…….………." :ninja:

This can't be right. Where's the p*55 thin stuff some of our guys swear by? And what...no 10w-40 either? :rlol:

It means they are wrong. :smartass:

In all seriousness, do they define which years and cars are to use which oil in their view? Looks like it from the pics .... 20-50 for SCs?

Posted

They actually recommend the 10W-60 for the SC !

The info is on the Porsche Classic website but I cant seem to paste the link here.

Oh well I'll give it a lash like a gullible consumer. Any technical blurb to at least make me feel like my decision is based on more than the pretty can?

They had loads of that stuff on display at Essen. Plus a fridge full of this:

But will it give you wings...............
