Where did you get the clutch and flywheel from Fraser?

Haven't yet. Flywheel is staying as it is, but need the clutch to get on with balancing the moving parts...

Posted

You got a pic of your flywheel? Wanted to get an idea of what a good one looks like to compare and see if mine needs changing.

Nope. It's at the balancers with the crank, waiting for the clutch.

Quick update: heads getting there:

I don't know: they are like the shopkeeper in Mr Benn and have appeared by magic. Better not be new parts!

What made you go for that one over the KEP ally pressure plate and sachs disc ?

Nice - how does the pressure plate compare in weight to the KEP item?

Nice - how does the pressure plate compare in weight to the KEP item?

9.9kg. Add the friction plate (1.83kg) =10.73kg, or 25.86lbs.

KEP pp is 6kg so a useful saving however dunno if they are otherwise comparable.

Some peeps find the action quite heavy with the KEP / sprung sachs disc combo - I got used to it on the trip home from Jaz but have fitted the MPL clutch slave which reverts it to a standard effort.

When's lift-off day ? :)

Didn't want too light - I know everyone bangs on about zinginess and all that, but the car needs to be drivable. I don't want no Jonny foreigner laughing at me stalling and having trouble getting on or off a ferry somewhere :rant_yellow:

Clutch/flywheel is now 2kg lighter than it was, which is 2 bags of sugar of rotating mass less. Then there's the con rods and backdated heating and exhaust to add to the reduced engine weight, plus the other secret squirrel lightweight rear end mods on the to do list. Can't wait to get the car weighed. Bet I'm not happy with the cost/weight reduction ratio  , but as long as the car starts and goes, it'll be alright.

Don't know when it'll be done. Even when I get the car back there's a lot of stuff to do before it's all ready for inspection.

Hope to have everything done by the end of May *ahem* :whistling: ...

If it's done by end of May you can come round Europe with us Doc! :)

Already am in June :steering: (provided I have a car... :rlol: )
