Your far safer smoking, drinking to excess or better still drug's - socially acceptable in some circles! Enjoy, take care & ride safe. Too much salt down for me but already looking forward to spring. Stu911 Posted November 13, 2016 Share Posted November 13, 2016 Ive got a CBR1000rr (not sure how to upload photos) and my Dad who is 70 has exactly the same bike. He lives in Australia and i went there for his 70th in February and had 2 weeks of riding (still owe the wife a spa day for the pass). Step Mum who's 60 passed her test before i cane out and my wife passed her test 6 months pregnant. Theres no other feeling than a good ride out (when its warm, im a wuss now) with mates. Track days for speed as i live near to Brands Hatch. The kids have a 50cc of road bike they love too. Main issue for bikers is the minority of idiots (bike riders and car drivers). I made the mistake of taking the zed apart to fettle it and it got a bit out of hand. I've had it for a long while now and wouldn't part with it. David Looks like a Metmachex swing arm on the Kwak. I worked there late 80's and learnt most of my engineering and TIG / MIG welding skills there. Great job for a young petrol head, always loads of special bikes and trick bits of kit in the workshop. Just bought a 50cc twist 'n' go for middle daughter to have some off-road/private land laughs on next year before she does her CBT. Should be good craic. Unfortunately they are terminally slow without several hundred quid's worth of tuning. Great little things but 45km/h top whack is borderline dangerous. The MSX/Grom could be a laugh. I had a barn find 1200GS for a while thanks to a Porsche mate - sorting that was a good project! Also bought a classic VFR from the dirtiest house I have ever seen, took some tidying up. Turned out to have been owned by James Toseland, which was a cool thing to learn. Didn't get on with that riding position though. Middle daughter moved from a 50 to an 80 to a CB125F but is now on four wheels. We tour on a Beemer - 1150 RT - once or twice a year: Northern France mainly but also been to Zandvoort with EB Motorsport. I have a couple of these rare Special Escort Group R1100RS models, one from the Diana funeral cortege and one slightly later. Diana's funeral procession must be one of the most memorable motorcycle-linked events in British history. SEG is a branch of the Met that specialises in moving royals and diplomats from one place to another discretely. I have chatted with a few old SEG riders about my bikes and they are interesting guys. I also owned this 750 Monster once upon a time. Almost bought it back a couple of years ago but someone had repainted it red! Preferred the TVR flip I had it in. flatsix777 Posted April 11, 2020 Share Posted April 11, 2020 Posted a short while ago, but I’ve just swapped out my KTM 640 for a 1985 Gpz1100 A3. It’s the 4th of this particular model that I’ve had. I just didn’t use the KTM enough and wanted something that would work better for a trip to the TT, sadly cancelled. Now in my conservatory being fettled. Just returning the bars to standard so it’s totally original, doing valve clearances and generally making it right. This the current state of play. Behind is my earlier 82 twin shock Gpz1100 that I’ve had for about 20 years. I bought as a modified Eddie Lawson rep ran it for a few years and then set about fixing a tight motor. Wall clearances were too tight and bad scoring on one bore, I think from an earlier problem. I have a Wisco 1170 kit all ready to go back in with the machining done at Grunpy 1260 at Downham Market. I’m using a later ZX11 bottom end and head. It has a ZX11 wheels, Lockheed callipers and a one piece seat/tail unit. It’s getting Mikuni flatsides, Earl cooler & lines, hydraulic clutch conversion, dyna ignition and a Kerker pipe. Here it is as first bought. Chris T Posted April 11, 2020 Share Posted April 11, 2020 2004 Fireblade, thing of beauty (to me anyway) and reliability (compared to a Ducati anyway 😉) and way faster than I am. Love the under-seat exhaust, Honda only did that 2004-7. The second 'blade I've owned, great bikes. I haven't tracked this one as I don't want to crash it!
