A Jig only gets the eye pick up points in the correct place  which is of course very important if major reconstruction is undertaken , panel gap is down to the attention and skill of the builder .

And look at the dirt!!!  Thats what 1500 miles since restoration does.  I finished (haha - of course it never is) in October 2017

I know how you feel mine was shiny once

Still shiny topside, and had its bottom stripped, (stone-chip) recoated and completely dinitroled in every nook and cranny in the summer.  Rust protected... hopefully... 😐

Use of a jig is critical with a targa, as is the use of highest quality sills, and seam welding rather than spot.   I used the very slightly thicker sills from 'Restoration Design' They were also galvanised at birth.  My bodyshop was very impressed with the quality.

Are these any help?  Had to crawl under the car as I'm not able to access my resto photo-log this evening.

And loom at the dirt!!!  Thats what 1500 miles since restoration does.  I finished (haha - of course it never is) in October 2017

Thanks for doing that, still abit unsure of the routing, if anyone else knows please chip in.

Quite a bit done over the Christmas period,

I think I've sorted out the fuel lines routing in engine bay,

First I mounted the pressure accumulator with fuel filter using rubber compression fixings.

20191116_160505.thumb.jpg.759eae6d88221373e54b67d36f0b9eb9.jpg

Then fixed the fuel pump, again using rubber mount anti vibration

20191123_151453.thumb.jpg.57336c1cb0405483b20a6b2934d003c4.jpg

So the fuel feed from tank goes to fuel pump, from fuel pump through body to accumulator/ filter to engine, then return from engine goes back to tank via flex pipe, hard line.

the gaping is fantastic

Seriously, that's something you probably don't want to Google!

As someone already said, your car looks museum quality. Reading this thread from the start, and seeing what happens when people without a clue do serious bodywork without the aid of a jig, was a major influence in deciding to send my 3.2 to an OPC bodyshop for new sills and kidney bowls, where it is currently disemboweled, but on a proper jig.

I'm sure my gaping will be immaculate. 😉

Yes I did notice it after I posted but couldn't edit it 😕

The first guy was recommended to me by a friend of mine who was having work done there on a 21 window samba that turned out later to  being a bodge job, he had to have work undone and corrected at the place I took mine the second time.

Check there website out here for some pics of mine, some nice shots after bodywork finished. http://www.edmondsclassicrestos.com/albums/porsche-911/

Good luck with your bodywork ChesterJLampwick

Amazing quality work, is this a money no object complete restoration? its virtually a brand new old 911 now  :)

Be nice to get all these old cars re-jigged, bet plenty of them are well out of skew after 30-40 yrs of use and previous history. Is it something you can only do with a stripped down shell? If not, what sort of money are we looking at for a jig alignment ?  Mines going in for a re-spray soon hence the interest.
