misfire at 1800 rpm then clears

Recommended Posts

hi everybody, its my first post on your great site, I have been reading for a few months so I thought I had better make a post,

I have a 1982 sc, it has a misfire at 1800rpm, then goes when you put your foot down, but once you are back at around 1800rpm its back.

The car starts perfectly and idles great, it has no smoke issues (apart from the initial puff on start up) it has loads of power.

I had new spark plugs recently, but noticed the ht leads look old, with a braided material on them,

Should I start with the leads to solve this issue?

I would add, that you only notice the mis-fire when the car starts to warm up, its barely noticeable when you pull away from cold.

I have tried injector cleaner, but no difference.

Thanks in advance.

I just had vacuum advance connected back onto distributor of my '78 sc, and with the engine warm the car was juddering at 2000-2500 rpm, above ok and idling ok.  When I disconnected hose from vacuum advance car ran fine again at all revs.  Presumably why it had been removed in first place.  Could this be similar problem?

Problem solved. Peter tognola just fitted me some new beru leads, plus cap and rotor, reckoned what came off was the original. He did a great job for me this morning.
