Had mine for about 2-3wks.

Thanks. They do look darn good. I think I might have to give them a try. I’ve got 2 sets of Fuchs (15 and 16) and set of Boxster alloys to get done. Gonna cost me a fortune! Maybe one set at a time

I’m going to sound a note of caution here because from what I have experienced over time a lacquered finish will not last as long as an anodised one.  The lacquer will of course be cheaper. But if the car is a keeper and you use it you may end up having to refinish the wheels again in not too many years. I think a slightly tatty original (ie anodised) finish will last longer than a newly lacquered one.  Not raining on anyone’s parade, just a bit of expectation management.  I’ve had my car 19 years and simple, regular cleaning has kept them in very good condition.  I am pretty sure the same would not be said of a lacquered one, because as soon as the lacquer finish is breached, chipped etc then it deteriorates quite quickly.

I asked Chris about this and he was confident the lacquer is pretty long lasting, he has been using this process for about 5 years. Its all about the preparation as normal, any moisture under the lacquer will destroy it.

Hard to prove or disprove long-run cost efficiency other than to revisit this thread in 10 years.  I have a suspicion I'll kerb them before that (joys of living on a street requiring parallel parking)  making the discussion academic, at least for me ;)

More importantly, got my wheels back yesterday from Chris (Excel) and delighted.  Quality is fantastic and the matt finish looks period (albeit clearly not authentic) and helps to 'lighten' the car, and off-set the dark paint.  And being inept and lazy, the fact that the process was hassle-free was the icing on the cake.

Anyway, was out for a nice spin this morning so some photos... a couple of close-ups by Chris and couple on my rubbish camera phone but where you can see the overall effect.

As with all such work, should have done it years ago....

Fair play, these look stunning.

It’s a tough call to pay double for the anodised full on early 911/cranford classics job or go for this. Can I be cheeky and ask how much excel charge for refurbishing a set of 4?

I had a set of 6’s and 7’s that needed “sorting out” but I’ve got 7’s and 9’s on the car now in standard satin black finish, so I fancied something different.

Took my wheels to Chris at Exel. What a top bloke!!

To say I’m impressed is a mega understatement!!

They'll give me a totally different look if I fancy it.

Photos before and after.
