Introducing Bamboo Beige

Following on from the 'Targa Time' restoration, I've purchased another SC but this time no serious restoration is required. The colour is Bamboo Beige and I'm totally into it on a IB although Mrs FF is unconvinced in equal measure. The car was listed on ebay for a couple of months and it took six weeks of negotiation to secure it at a price I was happy to pay. I'll be making a number of 'aesthetic changes to the car but nothing too dramatic (the colour is enough).

The car as it sits today...

So one of the first changes will be the swapping over from flat lid to ducktail spoiler (thanks again Matt). I'll be fitting a aluminium grille to avoid trimming down a plastic one and I prefer the look anyway. I had a grille but it was in a very poor state so decided to give it a bit of a refurb.

Taking it apart...

Then stripped all the paint, re-shaped the slats and primed/painted all sections...

Assembled and test fitted in the engine lid aperture.. Some minor adjustments to make but looking OK

Looks nice Andrew,

Do the slats for the grille just press on to the bars then ?

The slats press on to a serrated tab but as with this one, aluminium corrosion eats them away and causes the slat to work loose. Each slat is stamped with a number too which is useful on re-assembly.

Cheers

A cool addition to the garage.  Love those original 70's colours.  Great work on the grille.

Thanks

Very cool and very clean A. Love those rare colours. You should have said if you were looking for an IB. Have a lovely Light Bronze Coupe that would be right up your street! ;)

Like you would part with her...

No probs.

Looks great, nice and clean too. Those oil lines are begging for a touch of wax to keep them looking nice.

Any jobs to do?

Good to see you back in an IB :)

Yep plenty to do but enjoyable stuff mostly. No rush though so will keep it on the road during improvements.

Cheers

Lol you are right of course. Just fell in love with her. Did I tell you I spoke to Robin Scott? Not much of a talker but said he'd look for any old photos. Maybe.

Oh great. Let's hope he delivers on the photo's then! I'd be interested to see those too.

Cheers

This is how the car should end up looking but some way to go yet. It's all been seen and done many times before but I do love the look.

Hearing aid beige with a touch of earwax :)

Doesn't need much doing by the looks of it?

I'm pretty good with seeing the vision thing but I'd never seen this with the car you've bought

It looks stunning, just needs some Recaro's and the wheel centres painting gold, lovely!

In my humble opinion the 74 Carrera look is the sweet spot for an impact bumper car.

Love it FF it’s going to look great 👍

+ 1000. I picked my car (ex FF dontchaknow 😉) specifically because of this look.

Nice colour Andy.
