915 gear stick diameter

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, follow up question...

Could someone with an exposed shifter measure the internal, external diameter and height of the cylindrical section of the stock 915 shifter housing.

I have a Rennshift housing on my SC so have no reference point anymore.

Can't give you the internal dia but I can have a check of the external and height. Do you want the height of the whole thing or just the cylindrical area from the centre of the base?

Alternatively you could unbolt your nasty aftermarket Rennshift, I'll unbolt my beautiful Porsche shifter and we do a swap if you'd prefer?

Both heights would be useful cheers Alex.

Hard pass on your kind offer of a Noel Edmonds Swap Shop though 😛

Have a complete 915 shifter on the bench if it’s a hassle Alex.

Happy to get the dimensions from anyone :)

Go for it mate. You can give him the internal dia too if it's on the bench.

A bit of a hijack, hope you don't mind, but on the same lines.

I have a spare whole shifter unit - including lever but the depth of the lever is shorter that the existing one on the car and won't hook up with the front coupler on the linkage.

Were there different levers for the 915 set up?

Stuart

I can't answer with certainty but I know as a fact that the 1972 shift housing is different from later versions (the Seine Systems gate shift product won't work on 1972 car, but will on later housing) and that there were design revisions later than 1973 also. So one can likely infer that levers may have changed over time to accommodate these changes?

Sorry guys. Thought it was on the bench but boxed up in my store somewhere ready for the 912 install. I can dig it out tomorrow if you're happy to wait but Alex might have most of the info at hand.
