What fuel should I use in an SC?

I have read with interest about the fuels you are all using. However as a new comer to the fantastic world of 911's I use an additive at fill up's ( the squeezy bottle stuff made by castrol I think). Could I use super unleaded or vpower stuff so I don't have to mess around with the stuff I use..

Why do you use an additive? The cars will run on 2 star if needs be.

I have used boggo 95, 97/98 and Silverstone 100 in both of mine over the last few months, no difference in the way it runs on any of them. Only one I do notice a diference on is Total Excellium in the SC. It is instantly livelier on that, no doubt about it, so I get it if I pass a Total garage and am getting low. Wouldn't make a special trip for it though.

If your question is 'can I use high octane fuel with no probs', then the answer is yes, use whatever you want.

It's what the last owner recommended, so I just carried on using it.

Well, i can't comment whether last owner was a twit but as the 911 -and in fact all porsches since the mid fifties- have hardened valve seats, it is no problem to run your car on unleaded fuel.

Like John already said, the minimum octane rating these cars need is 91 ron; standard unleaded is 95, super unleaded is 97 or 98 (v power)or even 99 (tesco's).

I have about 27 mpg with 95, and with 98 i can nudge 31 mpg on a motorway trip. ergo: I use my car a lot and I just fill it with 95 and if I feel generous, I either fill up a tank of 99 or I get a mars bar.;)
