Been procrastinating over it for a good couple of years. I'm enjoying swinging the tools. Saved a few quid servicing (we'll forget about the few quid spent on calliper messing) lol. I'm old. Bit fat. It'll do my back some good.

Excellent, you'll not regret it. Makes life so much easier. What make did you go for?

They look pretty good Haith,     do you need to beef up the floor at all to fit these.

Hiya Steve. 5" of concrete the man said. If it's less than that, they can be resin anchored. But no requirement for strengthening.

I liked them because I have limited head height in the garage. These are 2m high posts. Lift to 1.5m. Not quite tall enough for straight standing under the car but perfect for my wheelie st00l and me sat down.

Buy a proper lift (if you have space) and increase your storage! OK, one of those 3 isn't mine.....

Fantastic solution for a storage solution  👍. Can I ask, what type of garage door(s) do you have and what is the minimum internal height required ? I’ve been thinking of doing something similar, but for a start, I’ll have an issue with my door motor mechanisms getting in the way of the lift.

Cheers, Nick.

Project "Get High" has started on the weekend. Need a C type circuit breaker as it trips on fire up (B type won't take the start up amperage apparently), torquing down and I'm ready to lift!

I had same issue with a chunky compressor I'd bought, circuit breaker didnt like the initial start up. Swapped now and never a problem since.

Think ahead and get some corner foam bits to fit to the lift so you dont ding the middle of your door on them - very tricky getting in / out of car while keeping door off the posts so they need foam IMO.

Yup, I'm on it Jev. Got draught excluder strips stuck on :) Probably need more. Like a pillow or a mattress

Looking good. I'm finding that the easiest way to get out of car is to drive up to the lift and get out when your door can still open freely, then just roll the car forward the last couple of feet.

That’s look good Haith,  you’ve got plenty of room around it as well which is good.

Top tip. Thanks Andy. Used that tip tonight.

Thanks Steve. Plan was to lose a space on the floor but hopefully double stack if I need to. Moving the bench to the side and setting up my tools. Can't wait. Might even paint it out.

Had to remove the second front caliper on Daisy tonight. Both going off for a full refurb. Rubbers torn and generally scabby. Lift not functional yet as my mate the sparky was delayed. Had to work off the floor again. Hopefully soon I'll be stood up or sat doing these jobs. Another pig of a job. Heat, penetrating sprays, cooling sprays, allen key with a breaker bar fitted on the end. Eventually got them off. Proper pain in the behind.

We very nearly have lift off! Anyone have any advice on where to best locate the lift pads? Using axle stands before so torsion bar covers and front A arm brackets.  Any pics?

As an '89 Daisy will have built in jacking points.  Not sure about the other earlier members of the "fleet"

Thanks Rich. Yup, daisy has those lovely big doorstops to lean on. The others a bit more fragile I guess. Just in front of the rear torsion bar I guess and just inside the seam behind the front wjeel arch I guess

Ahh thanks. Been a long time put off but I’m very pleased I’ve taken the plunge. Tools installed and I’ve moved my bench over. Still haven’t lifted a car 🙈🙊 Think I’m a bit apprehensive. It’s all torqued, checked and checked again. Might lift old shirls a couple of feet and leave it there.

Fanks and yup, it is. We’ll the porkers are really. Haith’s pork shop coming up. Servicing by appointment 😂

Well you’d be most welcome to come and use it if you need a car up in the air. Bring specialist tools, cake. Ignore the fella peering over your shoulder.
