James911SC Posted March 13, 2019 Share Posted March 13, 2019 Just had my first annual oil change on the SC (used Mobile 1) and I turned North London into something out of the Blitz! I've never seen so much smoke coming out of the exhaust - ever!! I hope it might be a spill on the manifold/exhaust and that a good blast up the dual carriage-way this weekend will clear it But I've got a sneaky feeling that doesn't sound right - esp if it's coming out the exhaust Any advice? Northy Posted March 13, 2019 Share Posted March 13, 2019 Did you fill it to the level with the engine running or switched off? If it was not running you've over filled it. Phill Posted March 14, 2019 Share Posted March 14, 2019 I did that when I first got mine or to be more precise the PO did before I drove it away! I'm sure it is a simple overfill. As Lewis says drain a bit out, go for a drive, get it warm, check the level again and you'll be fine. Any excess oil in the engine will burn off quickly enough. kevinkjse Posted March 16, 2019 Share Posted March 16, 2019 What I do is drain into a 15 ltr bucket and empty into the previous oil change containers, then you put in the same amount as what came out and take it from there! I don't think I would let those guy's loose on my car again! Many years ago following stock car racing, we use to carry out body repairs on a number of write off's, had a celette churchhill jig so knew everything was straight, anyway one car we did was an almost new a MG Metro which needed a new front end with less than a thousand miles on the clock, it was a non runner so dropped the engine repaired the front end and put it back together, started it up and clouds of white smoke, after a lot of investigation took the head off as suspected head gasket put it back together and still lots of smoke. After a number of hours did an oil change and guess what no smoke! the oil removed was as new but appeared thin, what we suspected was an oil change was carried out with incorrect oil and either the mechanic or the owner picked the car up and on driving looked in the mirror at all the smoke and went into the car in front! and then written off. I have lots of story's like this, seems we got a lot of the dud one's but can laugh about it now kev Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

James911SC Posted March 16, 2019 Author Share Posted March 16, 2019 @Kev tbh I'm not sure - it was an US import so probably fitted by the dealer - there's no mention of air con fitted on my CoP. I had it disconnected but this is something I bitterly regretted last summer Lol. Everyone has an opinion on which oil to use and we all kind of raise our eyebrows when a new oil thread starts (not that your thread fits the bill). In all seriousness though, I would look for a specialist used to working on these cars. Schoolboy error that by your local garage and shows they are ill prepared to work on your car.
