Eisenmann exhaust for 3.2 Carrera

Recommended Posts

Nine weeks to the day after placing my order my Eisenmann exhaust arrived this morning.

My impressions so far are fairly negative. Inadequate packing has led to the ends of the heat exchangers being damaged. I'll leave you to form your own impressions on the quality of the welding.

jeesh, that looks like I welded it !  #refund if I was you.

More like I did it.

Are these SSI type for 3.2 with bigger bore?

There’s functional and there’s aesthetic...if it doesn’t leak, maybe it’s OK. For the money I’d be wanting something I could hang on the wall, like old school SSI’s....

My thoughts exactly.

Eisenmann carries a Rolls Royce price - I was expecting RR quality.

It's the full system that I've bought.

Is it the exchangers along that have the poor welding or backbox too? If the dents etc were damage caused in shipping, maybe the carrier would cover it?

This is what I was looking at https://eisenmann-exhaust-systems.com/shop/exhaust-system/all/2003/porsche-911-g-model-1974-1989?number=P91132GK.00831S&c=157

The one you are looking at has catalytic converters.

Just showed the pics to my son who is a good welder, mig and tig...he thought it was a joke.

you should reject it Chris, despite having waited so long for them. Did you pay on Credit Card?

Graham that's really interesting. I'm no welder but think the welding is dire - I guess the best way forward is to get an 'expert' opinion on the welding. However the likelihood is that I will be in a 'we think it's OK' and batting it back and forth.

I did pay on credit card but not sure what my options are.

I'm massively disappointed with what has been delivered to me.....

I know it’s no consolation but are the bottoms of these ok? If so, it’s all you’ll see when fitted and the outer shroud is just a case. Totally not making excuses for shoddy workmanship especially at top dollar but you might not even notice when fitted up?

I don't understand why I have one heat exchanger that looks like this:

HE-4.jpg.42b39bdb67bb3e94656d58e96a3a339d.jpg

And one that looks as though it has been beaten randomly with a hammer:

HE-1.jpg.2f49658efeee3ca9b18cb8905807fef1.jpgHE-2.jpg.78ae04b5e1fed6002d6fbab2f2b649f3.jpgHE-3.jpg.61212b25e22d1d7610934e47213da156.jpg

Looks like someone has been trying to make that one fit! Or it was the trainee who made it!

Hope you get it sorted

Russ

The welding on the image they have used on their website looks just as scruffy if you zoom in.  Including that weird circular patch on the heater exchanger outlet.  Looks like the gas was low on some welds.

These are the photos Andy shared with me of the F system I bought off him - the F model on the right, the G model on the left where paired.

I couldn’t accept what you’ve received, they look like returned items.  Having said that, even the new G model ones Andy had  fitted weren’t straight forward, what from I heard.

Sorry but I'd be sending them back. I know there's been an Eisenmann back box for a Boxster on eBay with split seams for sale for a while - given the standard of welds I can see similar problems if you kept them.
