Busybee Posted July 3, 2019 Share Posted July 3, 2019 I know, I know, another tyre thread. My new to me RB car needs new tyres. Have older toyo 888’s on at the moment. 225/45 and 245/45. Probably too much track and not enough street for me. Think enthusiastic fast road driving. No experience of the wider Fuchs and what people are running. Have discussed with RB and he’s given me some options to consider. Thanks Richard. Just wondering what others are running and if you like? Sidewaysfun Posted July 3, 2019 Share Posted July 3, 2019 I'm running Toyo Proxy T1R on my identical setup. I find them very grippy on the road. You can also fit 225/50/16 on the back wheels which open up your choices massively. Can't find the T1r's in 225/45/16's. Rears are ok but the fronts not on black circles. The Yoko's look great. Not 100% on the geo that the car was setup with, if you ran 225/50/16 you may need to raise the front a bit, perhaps someone in the know can confirm? On paper this looks a bit under-tyred for such wide wheels but in reality if you pick the right tyre it wont be that much different visually. F225/45 & R245/45 - slightly heavier but more panted feel, decent tyre selection and is what narrow body 8" fuchs user would do to stretch the tyre a bit to clear the front arch however it does change the sidewall ratio F/R from spec. F225/50 & R245/45 - As above but closer to correct F/R sidewall profile so if you have room this is the better looking 225F 245R combo. Said the load rating on the 45 fronts are lower than a 50 sidewall tyre. 89 versus 92 (whatever that means).
