Broken head stud!

Recommended Posts

Bummer, found the cause of the (what I thought was a) misfire. Broken stud on No 2 cylinder.

The engine will need to come out so my question is do I do all the studs?

Engine out - what’s the ballpark?

No personal experience but I don't see the point in doing a strip down just to leave the existing head studs in there.

If it's just the one it may not even be worth doing.

It’s blowing. I thought it was a misfire but having worked through the ignition we found nothing. Got to be done.

You could do worse than talk to Neil & Anthony at Discount 9 in Cardiff. They have just rebuilt Niks 82 engine and done a great job, allow about £6K. I will probable send both my SC's there in the next year for engine rebuilds

I’m not sure that with only 50k it actually needs a full rebuild but I’ll drop them a line - cheers.

They did my sc engine before my ownership. Pulls really well. Loves to rev. Bone stock. Still has an oil leak somewhere lol
