well she is now running on all six after replacing the plugs so all good ,

how ever after very inspecting the kidney panels i have found that on the

passenger side the B post has been replaced and fitted over the quarter

panel not behind, this has been high lighted by there not been a seem showing

from the quarter panel up the door post. i have run this over and over in my head

and could not let it be! so i have removed the door post (B) and i was right to do

so the kidney panel is full of P40 must be a whole can of it in there :(

the door post had not been fitted very well and came off quite easy really.

i have removed the outer sill and find the middle part of the sill is to corroded.

after finding this i decided to check the drivers side properly and the news there is

a little better has it has not been bodged up but still requires the same as the passenger

side inner and outer sills kidney panels :( . some garages back in the early 90s

should be ashamed of themselves.  guess i have a few weekends work welding panels

come from design911.co.uk very good value so far they are not genuine but good to rework.

i think in its early life it may have been damaged on the passenger side door / B post and been repaired very badly

as the rest of the car seems very strong and solid (Driverside kidney panel not included) but for its age im happy

i found these problems before the repaint,,,

You are not alone. A few of us have done our own. Here is mine

Do a search and you will find others. Also, check out @PeterK resto on DDK, superb work. As you have mentioned above you are handy with a welder so should be a walk in the park. Start a new thread in the bodywork section, we all love a good rusto (see what I did there ;) ) thread. Good luck!
