We have them in ABS plastic...................:whistling:

I know, I've seen them and they look very nice but having just spent £6000 on my engine I'm trying to keep costs down :(

Heavier.

Mmmmm, I had considered that, not ideal.

Use 5 sheets of 1mm ply, apply glue, make a sandwich and then bend to shape and let dry.  Would need a rudimentary jig.

or

Use 5mm plywood and cut grooves through all but one of the layers across the bend.  Apply glue and bend to shape.

Loads of videos on Youtube.

You can steam bend using a wallpaper steamer and plastic bag/sheet.

You can actually buy flexible ply. I will have to have a look at some somewhere.

Doesn't it stay bendy though?  You want it to bend and then stay bent.

Hi Phill,

I’ve got a spare pair of floorboards that I bought off Matt. They’re targa ones though.

The cut, at the bottom, up to the sill, is slightly different. And the strap holes at the top are a bit damaged.

If you’re interested I can send you a piccie.

Regards

Russ

Yes, found that out by ringing the time yard.

I used MDF - think 5 or 6mm but guessing. Works great and really cheap.

Cheers

Thanks Russ but I'll be just moving sideways by the sound of it.

I think if there is a way of producing some at a good price there is deffo a market. The problem is the bend. In metal easy enough but in wood and plastic a trifle more difficult/time consuming.

I have a hand held steam cleaner which I shall use to see if it is effective enough to bend some ply. I will have to make a jig though, as above.

Flat - seemed functionally unnecessary to curve and I made them with left over materials so cost me just a little time. We can sometimes make things over complicated IMHO. Flat works well in a 356.

Interesting, flat makes things very simple..........roll on the weekend and standby for updates.

Out of interest @Type911 Matt what's the bottom line on your ABS ones?
