Daisy going 3.8!?

Yes Haith my car has the RS setup. Its probably the most noticeable mod you can do to a 964/993. You can hear the clatter and chatter of the gearbox at very low revs and some people dont like that, but it doesn't effect idle, that is normally just choice of camshaft. Some cars (mostly cars with AC) can have stalling issues but its easy to map out.

If it's done with the right cam and mapped correctly then its not an issue, I had no such problems on my red 964 with redtek cam & his off the shelf mapped chip - even managed to drive it through central London on day 1 even though it was my first drive with a LW clutch.

Thanks fellas. Jev said he might have something in his stash. I’ll start looking for a supplier in the meantime. This is the full kit right? https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod4155/Lightweight-Clutch-Coversion-Kit-Porsche-964-1990-94/

That's correct. You may also need a release fork, bearings and shaft. Just depends on the condition of the existing parts tbh.

My engine yoke has been shipped. Have a stinking cold so laid up thinking of what I need. Bolts to fix the yoke to the engine. As the gearbox is still mated up to the 3.2, what bolts are they? Anything special?

I think you just use the bolts you have, or so I've read.

The bolts I have are still in use holding RB's engine to RB's gearbox. Looking for which bolts these are so I can mount he new 3.8 onto a stand whilst leaving the old setup alone for the time being.

The engine should have long studs on the flywheel end which go through holes in the gearbox which you put nuts on to secure the 2 together as seen in this pic

Its these studs that you normally use to fit an engine to the yoke along with tube spacers as seen taped to one of the arms in this yoke pic:

If your engine is missing these studs you will need to buy some to fit the engine but in the mean time you can find some M10 bolts instead. Make sure you get the length correct (measure hole depth + yoke thickness) so you dont wind them into the bottom of the threaded holes in the block and damage anything (M10 bolt can apply a lot of force), you can use washes under the bolt head to make fine adjustments to the depth the bolt winds into.  Or buy some generic M10 studs and fit them to the block and use nuts on the other side of the yoke.

HTH?

For spacers, either a number of M12 studs (loose fit on bolts) or old sockets work nicely 😇

Yep, sorry, my mistook🙈. I edited nuts to studs when I meant to edit bolts to studs

Should have said

Thanks fellas. Some m10 studding should do the job nicely.

Got the engine up on its stand this evening. Found two near perfect length M10 bolts. Packed with washers. Job done.

So, what can the keen eyed see? I can see a spare pair of 964 heat exchangers lol. Barn door air intake. What do those numbers on the cylinders mean? How can I verify they are 3.8 cylinders? Looks pretty clean right. I can see a cruddy oil pipe that may need replacing before install.
