MOT Fail

Recommended Posts

My daughter's Fiesta once was failing emissions until we plugged a hole in the rear silencer (bought a new silencer on the way home from the test).  T'other twin's previous VW was failing until I noticed that the dipstick was not fully home, so very small air ingress.  Both were then good passes.

Small things that seem unconnected can make a big difference.

Dear All

Thanks for the advice. Good news. I took the car for the mother of all blasts this morning. Headed straight for a re-test. She passed. And no advisories, which is a bonus.

Note to self - don’t store IB for 18 months and the drive 1 mile for MOT.

Amazing cars. So enjoyed being back in the saddle.

Thanks again.

My experience with old cars is that you need a tester who is used to and sympathetic with old cars, i went through a few MOT centres and had some stupid fails including where i went and printed pages out from the MOT website and taped them to the steering wheel explaining that i didnt need seatbelts for a retest!!

Place i go now just tells me if anything needs doing, but he knows i will sort it!
