The 2nd DDK Swap-Meet will be held on Sunday 8 March at 9.30 -12.30 at Greatworth Park, Welsh Lane, Banbury OX17 2HB

Last year, the 2019 the first DDK Swap-meet combined with Greatworth Classics open day ‘Coffee & Classics’.

Life before eBay was very different. If you wanted to buy used car parts you’d have to actually buy a magazine or paper, make a phone call and go and meet up with the owner, face to face. Or you’d go to a swap-meet / auto-jumble. A gathering of people and boxes, lots of boxes. You’d go, rummage and haggle. That was the simplicity of it. Taking a mental list of requirements to finish your garage project. Sure, some larger swap-meets such as the famous Beaulieu Auto Jumble survived the onslaught of the internet and eBay, but smaller more specialist events such as the Husbourne Crawley Porsche swap-meetdwindled. This was always a slightly out of season trudge round a muddy field next to a pub, plenty for sale and plenty of haggling to be done. A great social event though and you’d always see familiar faces tucking into their bacon sarnies.

In 2019 it was reborn as if all the participants had been cryogenically frozen for the last 15 years and along with their boxes had been thawed out again.

The location was the impressive HQ of Greatworth Classics who kindly agreed to host the swap-meet as part of their open day ‘Coffee & Classics’. It’s a superb facility with some really interesting projects in the works. The swap-meet was suggested by one of the DDK club members and what a great suggestion it was! A superb turnout of both people and cars, we can’t wait to go back on Sunday 8 March 2020 from 9.30-12.30 at Greatworth Park, Banbury OX17 2HB. Haggling is not dead…

I shall be there in full vending mode, look out for the red Cayenne. There might be a few IB bits and bobs but I'll mainly have all the stuff left over from my 356. Hope that the rain keeps off and it won't be blowing a whoolie like last year.

I don’t think I’m going to make it now 🙁

If anyone sees any of these things for a good price, pick em up for me!

- wing to scuttle rubber seals (fat ones ideally)
- heater blend valves
- cold start valve for an SC
- thermo time switch for SC
- SC rotor arm
- red relay for SC

Have a good one 👍

Good to see the old folks out on a day trip from the care home.

Lewis I should have the scuttle seals and maybe a red relay. Email me your address and I'll send them out, I owe you a favour.
