I’ve owned my junior for about 16 years, over that time it’s been a rolling restoration in various forms but a serious engine fault at the Nurburgring in the late naughties led to a full bare metal rebuild and upgrade to twin spark specification.

After two false starts with the wrong engine builder the right engine builder (hopefully) delivered engine number three this week and I’ve taken the car out of storage and started prepping it to receive.

I'll see if I can get a few sneaky ones. Consenting customers are featured on our FB page: https://facebook.com/majesticmotorsltd

Got the gearbox on today and some other bits like removing the old oil cooler and measuring up for something more sizeable. Seem to have lost the starter motor sleeved bolts so they'll be on the orders list.

Finished?! 😅😂🤣

I've been trying to "finish" it for 10 years!

Know the feeling, I always have time for other peoples car projects but never time for my own 😭

Been under the Alfa today topping up the epoxy - last time this was done (about 5 years ago) the transmission was still in so the tunnel didn’t get the attention it deserved!

Also did a parts order with Classic Alfa for a few missing bits and some silicon hoses.

Been thinking about the cooling - will be adding Evans waterless coolant this time around and fitting a slightly larger oil cooler. Will also pay attention to sealing the area around the rads to make sure of maximum airflow.

Anyone used Spal electric fans and how do they compare with the Kenlowes?

Reddevil that TR4 looks stunning, badges finish it off a treat. Must be a lot of hours in that car. I will have to show the pictures to a mate of mine who has got one tucked away in a garage that he has been restoring forever.

Your Alfa is looking good as well, the engine is almost to good to hide under the bonnet. A few years ago we visited the Alfa museum outside Milan very nice cars on display but not all to the same standard as your work.

Thanks Baz, we can’t take the credit for the paint on the TR4 as the owner had it painted over 10 years ago, but it arrived as a shell and we have refurbished all the parts and built it up for him. It’s really a lovely car and has made me think about how we might make a modernish restomod version along the same lines as the Frontline MGBs...

This new engine is really showing up the rest of my Alfa, which was done 10+ years ago and not to my current standards! A 10/10 engine going in a 7/10 car. I’ve been thinking that as a competition car perhaps it would make an interesting alternative to a modern spec Escort RWD tarmac rally car?

Anyway today I made a makeshift spray booth underneath it so I could apply the Dinatrol 445 without getting it all over the aforementioned TR4...

Had a battle getting the recovered Sparco race seats on runners and in low enough. We had to cut out the existing mounts and re-fabricate a large amount of the floors on each side - 20hrs work - but worth it to get the seat in exactly the right position.

So following that, finally managed to put a few running in miles on the engine this weekend and take a couple of snaps in the process...

Yes yes, liking the single headlight look on the Juniors (I believe it was only the GTVs that had double headlights?)

Earlier step-front GTAs, Sprint GTs and Juniors also had the single lamps. Basically most of the 1960's cars.

Red Devil I think the Alfa looks great as is, over restored classics that are better than when they left the factory dont always look right to me. Is the engine as good as you wanted? Great car.
