Been looking at these for ages but every one I have looked at including cheaper IDs and Supers has been a dog.  Maybe need to pay top money to get what I would like and £50k certainly is top end! Finding a RHD non semiautomatic is the main problem once you get to Pallas spec.

I have my eye on an E39 M5. Unfortunately I'd need to keep it unregistered after shipping it back to Italy because it doesn't start being exempt from road tax until 2030 and the nice folks in Rome have decided that anything over 250bhp incurs a big fat healthy road tax surcharge of four euros per KW.

Have been considering another BGT under the excuse of a middle daughter classic. Ideal would be a chrome bumper early 70s car in Teal Blue on Rostyles. Almost bought this one a couple of weeks ago - set a sensible limit based on cost to lose the sunroof and fit a K-series or similar with 5-speed Ford gearbox and was outbid by a few hundred quid. Quite happy about that tbh!

Only other thing I might buy down the road would be another early steel-bumper CX but am leaving that for now. Wait until France opens up again and see what's about next year.

Nice choice! I have one, and they are just brilliant to drive.  I don't know much about modern manual 'boxes, and this one is 21 years old so not that modern anyhow, but the 'box on this is such a joy.  And that engine...

You're not helping! :D At the moment I'm keeping an eye on both these and E46 M3s, unfortunately hardly any of the latter appear to have made it to the UAE with three pedals and that SMG thing can get stuffed.

Ronin & Bond!

Are we decided between the two or working out how to house them both?

Deciding on only the one 😵

S8 or 740i fills the luxury space in my master plan for a 'black' car collection, something for every occasion

You can easily convert an SMG to manual. One small bit of machining and some spannering. And some bits obv.

An occasional manual one does appear, but the M5 tickles my fancy a bit more, even if the straight six is something special. I need another big V8 in my life after selling the 500E.

Cayenne GTS then. Fast as an M5 and has the extra cylinders...

I need to stop looking at this, I have enough cars. But was reading up on the manual conversion, and i love this colour.

I know one of the guys involved in the collectingcars.com website auction thingy. One of my fave sites. Not allowed on when drunk for fear of what I may buy!!

Nearly bought my sons' first car several times over.......

I find the side a little frustrating as they don't show if the reserve ha been reached or not.  I have bid on a couple but no joy yet, it's a good thing I've quite the drink, I used to have some horrendous late night drunken internet purchases.

If we’re talking Ronin, we can’t forget the Merc

I think there was a BMW M5 driven by the baddies as well. Cracking film that's in my top 10. Especially when you find out at the end of the film that the briefcase contains <SPOILER ALERT>!

Has anyone ever tried a Bristol car? I sat in one once at an auction and it was fantastic. So quiet inside. They are cars that feel that I should like but the styling never seems to be quite right to me. If I had any need for something that could transport me from London across Europe then it would be a nice option! As my regular driving consists of simply driving the kids to school I'll stick with my Renault 172 clio cup!

There's a company that can convert the SMG to manual, basically the SMG is a manual box with a system that does the clutch for you. It's on this forum somewhere.

That was covered on a wheeler dealers episode in the current series.
