Me , the Mrs and my quality socks took the SL to Deal in Kent for a long weekend with friends in a great great rental house on the beach road last month , the drive there and back was so comfy  , I really don't understand what car manufacturers are doing at the moment with their Nurbugring suspension setups.. , drove my mates Polestar2 with Ohlins the other day.. way too firm..mental quick though..

any way..nice sky this time of year..

You're quite right about modern car suspensions, they are awful.

They set up oscillations in my belly fat that don't stop until long after I have gotten out of the car and sat down in JJ's.

Still got it.. 3 years and 10k miles later.. I think I kinda like it..

The R129 (and other MB's) have rubber shims on top of the springs , they start at 1  (8mm) and go up in 8mm increments ,  mine had 4's on the front and 2's on the rear , replaced the front with a set of 1's , instant 24mm ride height adjustment , stuck the 18" AMG's on it as well and hey presto..

Still love the look with the hard top on , its bloody heavy taking it off though .. its off now for the summer..

Went for a beer with Lesmonde the other week , his 924T looks really nice in the flesh

and this weekend I replaced the sun visor covers again..

I replaced the broken ones with genuine MB ones 2 years ago , these have now split and look tatty , decided to try the Octoclassic ones , they arrived promptly from Poland and look good , had to do a small bit of fettling to align the screw holes but it all looks original , hope they last longer than the MB ones…

peak mercedes this. love 129s, and the facelifts are the best.

id like a 600, but a 500 would do nicely as well..

I think these will appreciate in time

Thread hijack!

1 year into my relationship with a very late model (2012 registered) R230 SL350 - no ABC trickery to bust the wallet, but every other modern car essential (except DAB).

So much car for relatively little money - effortless.

I found the ride on 18s really suffers compared to the standard wheels. The AMG are heavy, about 3kg per corner so performance also takes a hit. They do look good though!
